Jack Bristow sat tensely at his desk, clenching and unclenching his fists and staring at the clock. He was supposed to be receiving a phone call from Michael Vaughn updating him on the status of his daughter.

Besides that, he was also expecting a call from whoever was using Sydney against him to get something.

His secretary found him like that, his spine straight, his shoulders squared, and his back looking like a board, "Mr. Bristow, are you alright?"

He snapped his head up and smiled, "Hello Rose, yes I'm fine."

"Well you have a call on line 2," she told him.

"Who is it?" he questioned curiously, he was expecting 2 phone calls, but as a senator he got a lot of phone calls during the course of a day.

"They didn't say Mr. Bristow," she replied with a furrowed brow, "I asked and they just treated it as if I never even spoke."

"Patch them through," he retorted, his hands shaking, he had a feeling they were his mystery stalkers, the one's who had been threatening his daughter's life.

"Sure Mr. Bristow," she answered, walking back out to her desk outside his office and patching the mysterious caller through.

"Hello?" Jack asked cautiously, "This is Jack Bristow, can I please ask who I'm talking to?"

"Mr. Bristow, names are not needed at the moment, for now you can call me Steve and maybe in time my true identity will be revealed to you."

"Okay 'Steve,'" Jack said pointedly, if his daughter's life wasn't on the line by this conversation, he would have laughed at the absurdity of it all, before he continued, "What can I do for you?"

"I need something," 'Steve' replied, "Something that's in the possession of the CIA."

"And what makes you think that I can get this stuff for you from the CIA?" Jack asked.

"I have every faith that you'll find a way to do it," 'Steve' smirked, "Especially when your daughter's life is on the line."

'How did I know?' Jack asked himself, 'I should have known this is how they would use Sydney against me?'

"What is it you're exactly looking for?" Jack inquired.

"The Rambaldi Manuscript," 'Steve' told him, "I'll contact you in 24 hours for your answer of whether or not you'll help me."

'Steve' hung up and Jack slammed his hand down on his desk, luckily he had friends in the CIA that would hopefully be willing to help him save his daughter's life.

He knew exactly who he had to contact and immediately picked up the phone, dialing the number.

"Director Devlin here."

Jack sighed, thankful that he had answered the phone, "Mr. Devlin, this is Jack Bristow."

Devlin knew something must be wrong, because Jack Bristow never contacted him unless he needed help.

"Jack what's going on?" Devlin asked.

"I need your help..."

****

Jack had explained the whole situation to Director Devlin, and they had agreed to meet the following morning before he would be contacted by 'Steve,' and he planned to take the recorded message with him too, hoping that the CIA had technology to be able to maybe identify this man's voice.

Now, he was awaiting for the call from Michael Vaughn updating him on his daughter that he had been waiting for for hours.

Already, this man was not off to a good start in Jack Bristow's book.
