"Are you all right, teacher?" asked Tsunami, Mr. Tazuna's 28-year-old
daughter.
"No," replied Kakashi tiredly, "But I will be...in about a week."
They had arrived at Mr. Tazuna's house a half- an- hour ago, and now were starting to relax. All except Aki.
She was lying down on a separate futon in the corner of the room, secluded from the group as she slept.
"Who is she, Master Kakashi?" asked Sakura, folding her knees up.
"Don't know." He replied, shaking his head, "But we'll know soon enough."
The image of the Hitai- Ate Leaf emblem tattooed on the girl's left palm lingered in his mind as he rested. Who was she? Why did she have that symbol on her hand? Where did she come from? She's no ninja, I can see that clearly, but I sense something unusual about her presence, besides her style of clothes.
Aki had different thoughts on her mind. Where the hell was SHE?! How can she be ANIMATED?! That's impossible!
If her predictions were correct, they only had a week before Zabuza would make his move...
Kakashi woke up suddenly with a feeling that he couldn't shake off. He said that he had the strong feeling that he must've overlooked something very important. All the time he was saying this, Aki just stared at her feet. Just then, Inari showed up.
"Oh no." thought Aki, looking away.
Inari's surly attitude towards Naruto caused arguments between the two. After things had finally quieted down, everyone went to bed. Aki woke up in the middle of the night. All of the lights had been extinguished, and no one was in the room except for Kakashi, who was snoozing at the moment. The moon glowed a celestial blue against the ocean that lapped peacefully against the posts. Careful not to wake him up, Aki spotted her bookbag, and crawled to it. She slowly unzipped the side, took out her diary and pen, lowered herself to the walkway outside, and began to write as she sat at the end of the planks.
This is scary. I don't know how I ended up here, but I know this much: We're not in Kansas anymore, Todo.
