A Mother's Grief
My child, first of my body
Yet also the last.
I will never see you grow
Never see your children
Little will you remember me
I will be but a shadow of a memory
My son, you look so innocent now
How I wish I could see you grow
I will pass from here before long
For that, I am glad.
I have seen what you will do
The misery you will create
You will drive those you love away
And cause the death of those dear
The world will rage with war
Over the theft of your greatest works
Even your own life will be short
How can I live, knowing this,
Knowing what I have loosed on the world?
No, I deserve death
For the misery one of my own will cause.
