Water splashed in her face, waking her out of her stupor. Spluttering, she
raised her chin up, trying to see in the dark. She moaned, trying to feel
where she had been hit in the head, but her hands wouldn't move. She
tugged, but found out that they were hand- cuffed. Great, she thought. She
found herself sitting in a simple square- back wooden chair.
She heard something move in the dark.
"'Lo? Someone there?"
A huge, bright fluorescent white light flashed on in her face, making her squint.
"Yes."
"Who?" She already knew who was there.
She watched as the 2 foot 4 midget came walking into the light's wake, his dark spectacles gleaming.
"So, am I being interrogated or treated as your guest of honor?" Sometimes her sarcasm could be the death of her.
She was scared, but not even a quarter of how she should have been. She heard the pointy- haired dwarf chuckle to himself. Aki turned her head to see his two bodyguards walk up behind her, and tried not to laugh at the one who looks like a snowboarder hippie. Those katanas looked pretty sharp.
"Well, let's put aside the niceties and get to the matter at hand." Gato fiddled with his coat cuffs.
"My pleasure." It seemed they must have beaten her up a bit for she had a bloody lip, and a red spot on her cheek, but she probably didn't remember.
Gato pulled out a folded thick stack of paper, and unfolded it.
"Do you recognize this?" Aki looked at the picture on the newspaper to see that somehow a photographer got a picture of her riding Aoihoshi. Quite clearly.
"Yeah." She leaned her head back to breathe.
"Do you know who it is?" Gato's glasses gleamed with malice in the light.
Aki shook her head, a couple of loose hairs falling in her face.
"Are you suuuurre?" Gato grinned.
"I'm sure."
Gato stood up and turned around, sighing slightly. Aki suddenly looked up, and the snowboarder hippie's hand slapped her hard in the face, causing her bleeding lip to reopen.
"What was that for?!" She spat out a sliver of blood.
"Miss, your lying skills don't impress me. This is you; I'm not blind."
Aki snickered; VERY bad move.
SLAP!
Aki was still able to focus on the lawn gnome with glasses, but stars started to go around her head.
"Child abuse is against the law, you know." She was really pushing it!
The other bodyguard with the eye patch was about to punch her teeth out, when Gato motioned him to stop.
"Child abuse? My dear lady, you are certainly not a child. And anyway, I AM the law here." The pixy adjusted his dark spectacles.
"So, you're interrogating a child because of an incident that happened two days ago? Such hospitality."
{Aki, shut up.}
(Why should I? I'm not afraid of the garden ornament over there!)
{True, but what about his bodyguards? You are unarmed; what chances do you have against them?}
(Chance itself. And maybe the element of surprise. I just have to wait for the right time.)
"My bodyguards tell me that you are a seer."
"Huh?"
"That you can predict the future."
"What?" She was always great at acting; she was just waiting for the opportunity to come.
Another slap in the face jogged her brain for a new idea.
"Oh! A soothsayer. A premonitionist. An oracle. A prophet. A pythonist. A-- " Another slap silenced her.
"Yes. They say you can predict anyone's future. Predict mine." Aki wanted so badly to say that he was screwed, but she had to keep up her act. Time needed to be wasted.
"Uh, well. Umm, I can't predict the future when someone asks. It has to come to me. Demanding it will just scare the visions away."
She thoroughly enjoyed Gato's confusion as he tried every way to ask while trying to make it sound like he wasn't.
"Oh, hell! Just tell me!" The pansy pointed a small finger at her as if to scare her.
"Like I said, I can't tell when asked. They just refuse to come."
"Fine." He turned to leave.
(Okay, time's coming up to go.) Aki was preparing herself to get ready to escape.
The two bodyguards came around from behind and stood in front of her, staring at something she could've slapped THEM for!
"What? Finished already?" Aki didn't like the looks on their faces.
"Well, since you won't tell me." Said Gato in the darkness, "We'll just have to persuade you to tell these visions of yours to "hurry up", so to speak. Enjoy."
The light switches went on, and Aki now saw the two bodyguards gather closer to her waist.
(Oh, shit!)
{Well, it's you're fault. You wasted TOO much time.}
(Will you shut up!?)
She tried to struggle out of their grip, but the snowboarder hippie grabbed her legs while the other went for her jeans. This was all an act; she was trying to make them over confident. The snowboarder hippie looked up with a lustful grin, but was responded with a head butt into the bridge of his nose. He let go of Aki's legs to grad his bleeding nose, screaming in agony.
These guys must have been truly idiots. They didn't realize they hand cuffed her wrong! Sure, her wrists were millimeters away from each other, but the cuff chain wasn't wrapped around or latched to anything, so she could've gotten up whenever she wanted to!
She shot up from the chair, and swung the chair into the side of the other bodyguard's head. Seeing they were both down for the count (even though she cheated by using a boost of chakra for strength), she lowered her tied arms to the ground, and slipped her legs behind the chain. She learned this technique when her brother had tied her arms up oince while her parents were gone, and had watched a cartoon resembling her dilemma. Remembering what the character did, she brought her arms to the ground, slid her legs through the garage rope, and brought them to the nearest sharp object to cut the bonds.
Well, this was steel, so she'd need to use fire or a band- saw to get them off. Or...just gets the keys off of the snowboarder hippie. After unlocking her wrists from the cuffs, she looked for a way out. No windows, so she had to go out the door. Checking to make sure no one was in the corridors, she ran for it.

The snowboarder nin woke up groaning as he pinched the bridge of his nose to stop the bleeding. He looked up, and saw that all there was was a half- broken chair. He started to get up, but his left arm was pinned to the ground. He looked down, horrified at that his wrist was handcuffed to his partner's. Going into the coat for the keys, he couldn't find them.
"What the--?!" He smelled something burning, and looked down at the floor.
A small glob of steel sat smoldering on the floor. They were once keys. Aki had used the Katon Ryuuka no Jutsu to weld them into a puddle of metal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ^..^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everything was going fine and silent. No alarms were sounded, apparently, so no one knew there was an escapee in the building. That is, until she bumped right into the garden gnome.
"Oh, fuck!" She leapt over him like a hurtle, and zipped down the corridor.
"Guards! Guards!"
Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap! Not again! She didn't know where she was going; she didn't have enough chakra to do her Scan jutsu. Just keep going up was her only option. Stairs, stairs stairs, and the ongoing shouts of chaos below her. She climbed higher and higher, cutting her hand on the lock of one door that she went through to find the next flight of steps.
AH! Guards there! She ran back to the stairwell, climbing higher. She was amazed at how fast and flawless she was dashing up the steps, but...adrenaline can have that effect. She saw a door at the top, and slammed right through it.
She found herself at the rooftop of Gato's quarters, overlooking the town in the night sky. She spun around as she heard guards come to the top, barking commands at each other to find "the seer girl". She quietly moved to one corner as they approached her, trying not to be spotted.
"There she is!"
(Dammit! Last resort!) Aki hated to do this, but she had to.
Gato stood in front of his hired thugs, grinning as he saw Aki stand before him.
"Well, it looks like you're out of cards, miss." Gato had the upper hand, "Now, you can either come quietly with us, or fall thirty stories."
Aki leapt onto the sill of the rooftop.
"I'm not afraid to take my own life, Gato." Bullshit, she wasn't!
Blood dripped down her hand and onto the stone. She took a deep breath, stepped further back, and fell off the roof with her back to the ground.
Gato looked amusedly surprised and walked to the edge. His hair could have gone pointier in shock. Aki was riding away on Aoihoshi's back.
"Get them! Get them!!" He squawked, pointing at them.
"Aoihoshi, let's get out of here!" Shouted Aki, ducking pikes and other sharp objects being thrown at them.
Aoihoshi soared off into the night, vanishing like a shadow of the moon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ^..^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aki slid off of Aoihoshi's back in the woods, and looked up at him.
"Oh, thank you!" She hugged him, or what her arm span could reach, "You saved my life back there!"
Aoihoshi didn't respond.
"Aoihoshi?"
"A- Aki..." He fell to the ground, his eyes half- open.
"Aoihoshi! What's wrong?!" She frantically looked all over him for the problem.
"There's a gap...where my fin...connects to my body...Over here." He sounded weak all of a sudden.
Aki ran around to his right fin, and embedded in layers of flesh and scale, was a foot long kunai.
"Oh, God! Hang on, you'll be okay!" In the blindness of the dark, she searched for a plant on the ground.
"Oohhhhhhhhh...." He was fading fast.
"Just hang on, Aoihoshi. Just hang on..." She plucked off a couple of leaves that looked like poison ivy.
She split the fat leaves in half, and a thick, sticky sap seeped out.
"This'll numb the pain." She smeared the sap over the bleeding wound.
At first, Aoihoshi's tail was thrashing around from the pain, but now it relaxed.
"Let me just get out a few things." She went into her pouch, and pulled out a roll of wide gauze and a small bunched up herb.
Squeezing the berries of the plant onto the gauze, she now gripped the kunai hilt with a strong fist.
"Please bear with me, Aoihoshi."
He tried to struggle.
"If you don't help me, this kunai with get you infected, and will probably kill you."
"You'll probably kill me, anyway."
"What have I given to show you I'm not trustworthy."
"Experience."
"You have my solemn word I will not harm you any way, shape or form." She gripped it tighter.
Aoihoshi said nothing.
"On my count. Three, two--"
Aoihoshi screwed his eyes shut.
"ONE!!" She yanked out the blade, causing blood to come forth.
Aoihoshi thrashed wildly, screeching from the pain.
"Whoa, whoa! Calm down, shhh. It's over, it's done with." She placed the saturated gauze bandage over the wound, and applied pressure.
It took a few moments for Aoihoshi to recover from the sudden explosion of pain. He opened his luminescent eyes to see Aki, strongly but carefully, wrap up his arm with the spare gauze wrap. She took both ends of the gauze, and tied the knot tightly over where the wound was.
"There. That should do it. Now, you mustn't do any strenuous activity while your fin is healing, okay? I probably won't need to summon you any time soon, so you just rest up wherever you go when I don't call for help from you. Alright?"
"Aki..." His voice sounded astounded, "You...no one's ever healed my wounds before from battle."
"Told ya I'd be the first. I'm just a kid, mind you."
"I am indebted to you." He bowed his flat head.
"Hey, no sweat. But I accept your thanks." She petted his large head.
"Well, time for you to get some rest. See ya later, okay?"
He bowed his head, and vanished in a flurry of blue feathers again. She walked back to the docks when the last of her adrenaline wore off.
Jesus, did she keep her fear locked up that long?! She couldn't even stand up; her legs were literally shaking!
"Aki?" She looked up to see a tall man with wild hair.
"Kakashi!" She gripped his offering arm tightly, and didn't let go.
"Aki? Aki!" She wasn't listening, she was too focused on her sickening fear.
Kakashi walked back some time later, holding Aki in his arms.
"Kakashi, what the--" Naruto looked up in shock, but Kakashi held a finger to his lips to silence him.
"Quiet." He walked into the next room, and slid the door shut.
Aki was still trembling in the dim lamplight of the room she had found herself in when she woke up from the Amentia poison. Kakashi lit an incense stick, and placed on a nearby dish with a dragon hanging over it.
"Now, Aki. Aki! Look at me." He placed a firm grip on her shoulders.
She snapped out of her jitterbug dance, and looked into his eye.
"What happened?"
"Gato." She managed to say.
"Gato?! What did he want with you?" Kakashi made her lie down to calm her.
"He...he thought I could...predict the future, so he wanted his..."The incense started to drowsy her.
"His bodyguards knocked me out, and took me to Gato's headquarters. I was " interrogated" and when he asked what would happen to him, I didn't say. When he got pissed off, he ordered his bodyguards to defile me, but I got the better of them, and I made my escape. But it was all too...scary. I...I almost...panicked."
She remembered what it felt like to be overwhelmed by two guys, least one. But she nearly lost her nerve, and would have been susceptible to their lust. She started to cry, partly from fear, but also from relief and self- shame.
Seeing this, Kakashi's natural instincts took over his rational ones, and now he was holding Aki close to him, even though he was frightened of what she was capable of. Her crying came to a choke, but she realized what was going on. Her breathing slowed down, and she slowly lay back down.
"Just try to stay here, Aki. I'll make sure no harm comes to you." He placed a hand on her forehead.
"Let's hope the same for you." Exhausted from the sudden lack of adrenaline, she fell asleep almost instantly.
Kakashi wondered if that was a prophecy she had made, without even knowing it.
She heard something move in the dark.
