I KILLED HIM

They brought Him in, I don't know why
Some common criminal, thought I

Some Jewish Prophet, I heard
He could heal the sick and the blind with just one word

They tie Him to a pole, and I grab the whip
They say He needs chastising, and I am to give Him it

I grasp the whip in my hand tight
And bring it down with all my might

I hear Him scream in agony and pain
But I close my ears and bring down the whip again

It rips into His back and out comes the Blood
Rushing flowing in a tide of crimson flood

It pours out onto the stones and stains them red
Continually I beat Him until He almost looks half dead

Suddenly, the order comes to me to stop
And from my hands I let the Blood stained whip drop

It falls to the ground with a loud resounding clang
I feel no remorse, no guilt, no shame

I grab His bloodied hands and drag Him out of the room
In the distance, I can hear the crowd calling for His doom

I take Him down to the Barracks, there we stand to our feet
Weaving Him a crown of thorns, Him we mock, spit on and beat

Covering Him with a Royal Robe, we shout, "Hail, King of the Jews"
He stares at us silently as we continue our abuse

I lead Him out before Pilate the crowds shouts spinning in my head
"Crucify Him, Crucify Him!" They shout, I know they want Him dead

"I wash my hands of Him," Pilate says to them and turns to me
"Do what they want," he orders, His execution I must oversee

As we walk through the streets, women are crying and wailing
He staggers under the weight of His cross, and I send my whip flailing

It rips into His back, blood pouring out and He doesn't seem t move
I turn to a man in the crowd and say, "carry His cross, you!"

Together they stagger up Skull Hill, the place were He will die
It is my job, my duty, so Him I must crucify

They tie Him down, I grab the Hammer, and drive in the nails
In agony, He cries, "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they
do!" He wails

My job is done, they raise Him up, suspended in the sky
Just then I start to wonder, did He really have to die?

The sky suddenly grows dark and all fades to black
I hear Him shout, "It is accomplished!" Then He breathes His last

Here I stand at His tomb, the sun's about to rise
The earth shakes and trembles, and I fall to the ground surprised

I see Him walk out and He smiles at me, the stone is rolled away,
Then all fades to blackness, it is the dawn of the Third Day
