"Whatever. Mom, what about that thing with the person that I was talking to you about at the time?"
"Yes Jeremy can come over. Ask him if tonight's good."
"Thanks Mom!"
She rushed over to leap on her mother with a hug.
"What, I didn't affect this decision at all? I could have said no and then where would you be? Do I get any thanks? Nope not a single itty bitty little infinitesimal microscopic-"
"Thank you Dad."
"That's what I was waiting for. Now this Jeremy fellow. Anything I can blackmail, I mean, should know about him?"
"Dad! You better not be a spaz when he gets here!"
"Define 'spaz' for me."
"Just don't scare him away."
"I'm not scary. Am I?"
"Honey, I'm not even going there."

Jacklyn flopped down on her bed and reached for the phone on her side table.
She couldn't believe how well her parents had taken the finding out about Jeremy ordeal.
Not only had she not been sentenced to no dating for forever, but she found out that they were going to let him come over and that they were felons!
Dating someone four years younger than you and it not even being legal. Honestly. What incredible role models they were.
Well, it was really unlikely that they had been thinking about her at the time when they were...

Shaking her head, she dialed the rest of Jeremy's number. She couldn't wait to tell him the good news.
Ring ... ring ... ri-
"Hi Jackie!"
"How'd you know it was me?"
"Caller ID. What's the verdict from your parents?"
"All's clear. They were surprisingly good about it. Dad only slipped once about potential blackmail opportunities."
"Why would he want to blackmail you?"
"Not me silly. You."
"Why me?"
"Hello? You are dating their 'baby girl'. What did you expect?"
"Hey, only child here. My parents don't care if I start dating someone new."
"Yeah, well you're a guy and 18. They don't have to worry so much."
"If you say so. How did they take the whole 'age difference' thing?"
"Oh! That was a very interesting conversation! As it turns out..."
The night went on and the two talked about the history of Jacklyn's parents and various subjects. Mostly they were trying to keep the coming evening out of their minds. Meeting the parents was never the easiest of ordeals.
