Unlikely
Chapter Ten: Sense and Stupidity
Two weeks passed, and during those two weeks, Pietro continued to avoid Mia like the plague. Occasionally he passed her in the halls, or saw her sitting with Xavier's group at lunch… Since she had become involved with the Xavier kids, Mia had become surprisingly popular, mostly with guys, even the non-mutant guys.
He could see why.
Now her silken silver hair was always groomed, and though her clothes were still pretty ragged, she always wore something that showcased just how great her body really was. Then she rarely wore make-up, but when she did, it was usually only eyeliner or eye shadow or a shimmering lip-gloss – something to draw attention to either her intriguing eyes or tempting full lips. It didn't seem to bother any guy much that she wore some type of gloves every day.
On Sunday, two weeks after Mia's warning, it rained.
Pietro was lying down on the couch at the Brotherhood house, thinking about food as his stomach growled – the sound only to drone away as thunder rolled overhead. After a while of this, he sat up and looked over at the ratty television and reached out to turn it on.
His finger lingered over the button momentarily, and then he retracted his hand and stood.
Today he wasn't going to think about her.
Todd leapt into the room suddenly, startling Pietro out of his thoughts as he sidestepped the narrow tackle. Instead Todd landed on the moth-eaten couch and looked over at Pietro, smiling smugly.
"Where you goin'?" He asked before catching a fly with his long slimy tongue.
At seeing this Pietro stifled a disgusted cringe. How could anyone eat bugs? "Ugh… I was going to go grab some food. Now I'm just going to the mall to get away from that smell." He muttered as he grabbed his jacket off the back of the couch and slipped it on. Todd watched this, sniffed his armpit, shrugged, then had his long slimy tongue shoot out and aim for the power button on the television. Pietro turned in time to see this and his eyes widened. "Don't!" He shouted before he could stop himself.
"Huh, so she was telling the truth," muttered Pietro with a smirk as Todd's hair stood on end and the toad fainted.
He turned again and headed for the front door then opened it and glowered at the downpour. Maybe he should just stay in and go to bed early, or something? No, then he would start thinking about her again. He always started to when he had nothing better to do. Besides, he was starving and there was no food to snatch around this rat hole.
With his super speed, he was gone in a blur.
Author's note: I like the next chapter much better than this one. This one was just a filler.
Preview of Chapter Eleven: Of Mice and Men
Lance and Pietro paused as they passed the clothing store, and then exchanged curious looks. Both had met up completely on accident when Pietro had first arrived here. He had slipped in a puddle upon entering the new Bayville Mall, and fell right onto Lance, who was just as annoyed and surprised to see the speed demon here as the speed demon was to see him. In the end of the small yelling match, both had compromised to keep the other company, with neither willing to leave the second day of the Grand Opening of the newly built mall, as both had just arrived. Both also recognized the voice of Kitty Pride, one of Xavier's kids, and Pietro easily recognized the name she had said.
Inwardly, Pietro groaned.
