"Huh?" Her confused exclamation was aloud as she sat bolt upright in the bed, glancing at the digital clock on her bedside table. The softly glowing red numbers read 1:53.
Everything was silent. That was, until she had a slight outburst.
"What is this? Not only does that little arrogant pathetic excuse for a man get into my dreams, some other creepy, mysterious green eyed monster somehow made their way in as well! My dreams aren't up for the public eye, you know!"
After she had calmed down sufficiently, gone out and got a glass of water and returned to bed, she turned off the lamp, the last memories of her peculiar dream fading like the touch of lovers' hands. After more thoughts of the time she spent in lover's bliss with him, she closed her eyes and let sleep take over.
Looking into the flickering flame, a small sigh escaped his lips. The golden flame danced slightly, unaware of anything amiss. He stared into it for a few moments, before with a light exhalation; the flame disappeared like a distant dream, leaving only a smouldering wick in its wake.
Tonight. It must be done tonight. For her, and the safety of us all.
Her eyes felt almost sandy, gritty. Rubbing them briefly, she glanced at the clock again. This time the digits read 7:25. Much more reasonable.
She dressed, tying her hair up in a loose plait, trailing behind her, before her stomach alerted her to the fact that she hadn't eaten for at least eight hours. Glancing briefly around the hotel room informed her of the fact that there was no use even trying to salvage any food from around here. Ignoring the verity that eating out constantly would ruin both her figure and her purse; she grabbed her tote and went down to the restaurant adjacent to the hotel. It wouldn't hurt once, right?
Here, open your mouth. See? You need me. Even to feed you!
"Bull! I never needed you, Jann-Lee!" she exclaimed into the almost empty restaurant. Several people turned around to stare at her oddly, and she shrugged absently before her eyes returned to the menu. A western menu. She hadn't eaten western food for years.
Toast sounds good. Easy, simple, inexpensive… what isn't good about it? After ordering, she realised what was missing. I'm lonely. I want company.
She glanced at the still slightly visible number on her hand from the day before. Should she… no. Ryu wouldn't want a silly little girl bothering him just because she was lonely. But then again, it could be compensation for asking her to lunch yesterday… no, it was too early.
Her hand, however, seemed to have made up its mind, pulling out her phone and dialling before she could even think twice. It rang once, twice, before a pick-up.
"Hello," The voice was cool, calm and collected, betraying nothing. She took a deep breath.
"Uh, hello, Ryu? It's Leifang here. I was wondering, would you like to join me for breakfast, in thanks for asking me to lunch yesterday?"
There was a slight pause. "It was no trouble. If you don't mind,"
Was that a yes? "Great! You know where I am?" she asked jokingly. "Because I don't," she pulled out another piece of paper from her bag, trying to use the information printed on it to identify her whereabouts, before he spoke.
"Don't worry, I know where you are. I'll see you soon,"
Before she could say anything to that peculiar statement, the phone went dead. And as her toast arrived, all she could do was hold the dead cell phone and wonder just how he knew where she was exactly.
