Several minutes later, the door opened. She looked up. Sure enough, it was him.

He certainly exuded an air of mystery about him, and the clothes he was wearing did nothing to dissuade that illusion. An ebony black leather jacket, reaching to almost his ankles, covered black pants and a black turtleneck. His hair was tied up as it almost always was, longer then ever, trailing down to almost hip level.

"Sorry I didn't order you anything," she apologised as he removed the leather jacket and sat down. "Well, I was going to but I didn't know what you liked, so I thought it best. And I ordered before I realised that… I wanted company," she finished lamely, dropping her gaze as to avoid eye contact.

"That's fine," he said simply as a waiter came up.

A few minutes later, she was nibbling on warmish toast as he was half-heartedly sipping at a cup of coffee. There was silence for a moment, before surprisingly, he broke it. "What made you suddenly desire my company? I can safely assume it wasn't for my conversational skills,"

She smiled sheepishly. That was true enough, before their untimely meeting the previous day, the amount of times that they had spoken could easily be counted on two hands.

"You could say that. But you asked me to lunch yesterday, and I wanted to return the favour. Besides, I've had worse company,"

"Thankyou," he muttered, deadpan, before he smiled gently.

Okay. Mouth, please don't drop open. I've never seen him smile so much before! I guess that could be because I see his face less then you would from a normal human being… shrouded in shadow and all that rubbish, it really does apply to him… he seems so normal now, though. I wonder what's changed between us?

"So, what have you been doing? You disappeared on us. We haven't seen you for ages,"

He placed the coffee cup gently on the table, running his fingers delicately along the handle. For a moment, she mused on how interestingly feminine his fingers were, before dismissing the thought when he started speaking.

"Not a lot, really. Mostly wandering. The hills are beautiful at this time of year,"

She smiled. "Aren't they? As the plane was coming over Japan, I got to see all the hills from the plane. They were wonderful-"

Her statement truncated abruptly as he suddenly coughed behind his hand, a hoarse, painful sounding cough. "You okay?" she asked, concerned. He nodded mutely.

"Thankyou for inviting me today. Have you gone to the Golden Pavilion yet?"

She smiled happily. "No, I haven't. But I've heard that it is a sight to see. Have you?"

He nodded. "I have to admit, I'm surprised. Most people go there on their holiday to Kyoto. Why not go and have a look?"

"Hmm. I guess I could…" she frowned slightly. "But then again, maybe not. You know how these things can be a bit lonely when you're on your own…" she trailed off with the not-so subtle hint, brushing some charcoal coloured locks from her face thoughtfully.

"Perhaps," His hand trailed from the coffee cup to the tablecloth adorning the mahogany table. "Although I have to confess that I have never had that problem,"

Well, that doesn't surprise me. What with him being so cool and… anti-social, I suppose, of course he wouldn't worry about being lonely. Perhaps he prefers it that way or something. How am I supposed to understand what goes on inside his head?

"Okay. Would you like to go there with me?" she asked finally, biting the bullet. He lowered emerald eyes at her thoughtfully, before he nodded.

"If you would, then it would be an honour,"

She grinned. "I don't know about an honour. More like torture. But hey, thanks anyway,"

What is it about her? Something… something about her seems familiar.,.

But what does it matter? What can I do about it? Nothing. Stop wondering…

Even so, I do have to wonder why she asked me with her. A surprise meeting has turned into constantly seeing each other. Curious, certainly…

I know what it is. Leifang reminds me of her… but I could never have her. Never. Especially not now. She never did love me…

But, for once…

I just want to be loved…
