I don't own Final Fantasy or its characters (except for the ones I
create) and hope this story gives good enough tribute to the greatness of
Final Fantasy. If there are things that seem out of place then deal with
it.

A Gathering of Hero's
Cloud stands alone at the coast. He looks out at the setting sun. With his sword hung over his shoulder he turns to walk away when a voice breaks the silence.
"You shouldn't just be sitting here alone, it's too depressing," Zidane says smiling.
"Don't follow me... I might just hurt you by 'accident'," Cloud replies without turning. Another voice enters the conversation.
"Don't fight with me. We're on the same side. That makes fighting pointless. Don't waste your energy," Squall says in a cold tone. Although it seems that there is tension between the three they have become rather good friends.
"I haven't been told of anything going on since last I heard from Blank. I hope he is ok," Zidane says. He thinks back to all the times Blank has been there for him and can't really think of a time he didn't help when he could.
"He'll be fine. I trust in the abilities of Kisaragi and Vincent," Cloud says.
The thud of boots on dirt is heard and all three turn towards the sound. "So, did you miss me? Stop staring and let's get this thing together," Paine says in a harsh voice.
"Damn, when did you get back?" Zidane says with distaste.
"Watch your mouth or you'll be sucking lead for weeks," replies Paine callously, "Now, what has been reported last on the whereabouts of Sephiroth and Seymour? They are the biggest problems we have now."
"Last I herd they were on Gaia. Lately, not much has come through from anyone," Zidane answers, a hint of concern in his voice.
"Well, we should hurry and see if they are still there," Paine says. Paine takes a small oblong sphere out and holds the glowing orb above her head. Bright light burst forth and when it fades they are all gone.
