Patty made Lena go to the store with her to pick cakes. Kostos was there again, but Mariana wasn't. Lena being the fourty year old woman that she was, she did not know how to flirt very well. She tried her hardest with Kostos that day. Lena probably made a fool out of herself more than made herself look appealing. Kostos didn't seem to notice either way. After their first two sentences to each other, neither of them had said a word to the other (minus one 'hello' each).
"Lena," Kostos said after they had chosen a cake, and their children were saying goodbye.
Lena's head snapped up in shock. Kostos talked to him? "Kostos," she said as smoothly and platonically as she could. She wasn't sure how well she accomplished her goal.
"Do you want to go to lunch after we go to the florist tomorrow?"
"What?"
"We need to talk about what to tell the kids. I know from your body language today that you can not keep this secret."
"Yeah. We should talk. Lunch it is."
When Lena got home, she screamed to herself, "I got a date with Kostos!" . Yes, she knew it wasn't a real date, but it was fun to pretend.
