The portal opened with Dawn's blood grew. As Dawn watched from the top of the Astronomy Tower, creatures from other dimensions began coming through. She knew that there was only one way to close the portal.
"Let me go, Harry," Dawn demanded.
"No!" Harry Potter argued, keeping a strong grip on her arm. "There has to be another way!"
"There is no other way," Dawn cried. "Blood opens the portal and stopping the flow closes it. Buffy's not here so it's up to me."
"Maybe there's a counterspell," Harry said desperately.
"What, you think the portal will close with just a wave of a wand," Dawn waved her wand at the portal, "and saying something like 'Close sesame'?"
There was a flash of light and the portal ceased to exist.
Blessed silence reigned.
"Damn," Dawn said finally. "That would have been soooo nice to know last time."
