A/N: My English teacher made us write Shakespearean blank-verse poems about a well-known story (like a fairy tale or something), so of course, the first thing that comes into my head is Lord of the Rings :) ...Anyway, I wrote this and I thought it came out kind of interesting, and I thought you guys might like it. Please review!

Reluctant Gandalf was to brave the Khazad-dûm,
For there the dwarves had delvèd overdeep And woke a vengeful malice from its rest. But try they must - there was no other choice.
Now on the bridge he stood, his staff in hand, To face the Balrog, demon of the deep.
Cried he, "Thou shalt not pass!" and with a mighty blow He smote the archèd path across the chasm.
Amidst the rending stone the Balrog fell, But with a jarring shriek, he cracked his lash Which wrapt around the legs of Mithrandir,
And dragged him down into the dark abyss.
E'er should they be seen again by eyes of men?
O Gandalf, Mithrandir, O Pilgrim Grey, Canst thou o'ercome thine evil foe? Or hast Thou met thy match i'th' fire and shadow of Morgoth?
