Disclaimer: Yes, I own Remus Lupin and James Potter, and Lily Evans as well. Oh, and Hogwarts. While we're at it, let me introduce myself- I'm J.K. Rowling! And if you believed any of that... get mental help. I'm just a fanfiction writer. I only own the plot.

Author's Note: Yay! First fic up on this name! Um... right. This is my first attempt at a James/Remus drabble. Yes, you read that right. Slashing James and Remus, I am. 284 word story, and since that's rather short, you can spare the time to read it and review it, right? puppy dog eyes Er, right.

Author's Note the second: I've edited this story a bit, mostly to add the disclaimer I forgot earlier. Thank you to both my reviewers- you've inspired me! This is going to be the 'prequal' to a trilogy of fics. One from Remus' point of view, much longer; one from James'; and one from Sirius'. You'll see how it works when I post Remus', soon as I'm done.

And now, without further ado-

Flying

Remus doesn't like to cause hurt to himself, so it was a mystery why he fell in love with James Potter. Because when you fall for your best friend, who's desperately in love with a girl who hates him and just happens to be a rather good friend of yours, you're in for a world of hurt.

It does hurt to see him after Lily when he's dreaming of that smile, those eyes- but Remus is used to it. He doesn't expect James to kiss him in fourth year, doesn't expect a secret relationship. And even though he knows he's only a substitute for Lily, he likes it.

It's not so innocent after a while- the touches are growing more dangerous as he grows older and his frustration for not having Lily grows. Remus is there for something to focus lust that's all over the place on.

As James' hand grip Remus' waist so that he's hovering slightly over him, Remus feels like he is flying. This feeling stays as James rolls over so he is on top of Remus, and he cannot help remembering the feeling he got when he was younger and his father would prop the light boy up on his knees, holding his hands and making him feel as if he could touch the sky.

Remus recalls this and feels dirty for what he and James are doing. For a moment, he longingly thinks of the brother-like relationship they once had, but when James' lips covers his own, he shoos that away and promises they will have that again when Lily gives in.

That night, Remus scrubs as hard as he can in the shower, but the dirty feeling remains.
