Spock, Nyota, Sulu, Pavel and Scotty all found their captain, Jamie Kirk, crying outside while the wedding reception went on, full blast, inside the barn. They all knew Jamie's feelings towards the ship's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Leonard McCoy, though he was only Bones with Jamie. But he got married today to someone who was not her, to someone that Jamie should have kicked off her ship the first chance she got. And to put salt on the wound, Leonard's bride had asked her to be the maid of honor.
She didn't want to be the maid of honor, all she wanted to do was beat up Spock, Sulu and Cupcake till she felt better. She wanted to eat ice cream and chocolate and other junk food till the wedding fever was over with the crew. Spock, Nyota, Sulu, Pavel and Scotty were all planning on boycotting the wedding till they found out who the maid of honor was and they came to support only her. They were there for Jamie when they were told about the engagement and once more when the invitations were sent out.
"Why does everyone I love get taken away from me? Why does my life have to be this unfair?" Jamie asked through choked sobs.
Scotty sat next to Jamie and pulled her into his arms like he had done with his sister so many times while they were growing up. Jamie cried into her Chief Engineer's shoulder who was not caring one bit if his clothes were getting wet. Scotty had worse things getting on his clothes while working down in engineering then tears from his friend. But before anyone could answer their friend, they heard someone yelling at another rather loudly.
"God! You're so blind you idiot!" They yelled
Jamie, Spock, Nyota, Sulu, Pavel and Scotty all thought that everyone in the barn had heard the screams of hatred. But they weren't sure if it was heard or not as they didn't want to leave the spot they were hiding in. The group soon saw that it was Erin Daniels, Leonard's older sister who had yelled and was coming right to them. Erin always liked Jamie and wanted the young captain to be with her brother since meeting her that first thanksgiving at the academy.
Jamie had liked Erin as well and thought of the older woman as the older sister she always wanted but her mother never gave.
"God! I hate my brother!" Erin grumbled in frustration as she stopped herself from pulling out her beautiful brunette hair.
Jamie, who was still in Scotty's arms just looked to her best friend's sister like she had 2 heads or something.
"What are you talking about?" Jamie asked as the evidence of her crying not ten minutes ago still resided in her usually beautiful voice.
Erin went onto explain to the group that Leonard had asked where Jamie was and if anyone had seen her. That lead to an argument between brother and sister about if he was Jamie's true friend, like the group here was, he would know where she was and why she was hiding from him and everyone. Leonard had got even angrier when his own mother had sided against him in regards to Jamie and her feelings towards him. That was when admiral Christopher Pike had told Leonard that Jamie had been in love with him since meeting in Riverside.
That was when Erin had told Leonard that he was blind when he tried to say that Jamie didn't have feelings like that for him. But Jamie had told everyone she trusted, who was not Leonard, about her feelings and how she was scared to go through with them. This made Jamie cry a whole lot more as she felt her heart shatter and crumble into little pieces after hearing what Erin had to say. At that moment, Jamie knew she could never get the one she loved, even if he were to divorce for a second time in his life.
Jamie had punched his ex wife in the face, gotten him full custody of his daughter and even gotten him better living arrangements and it was all for nothing.
