I don't own House of the Dragon.

Chapter 1 Daughter of the Dragon

115 AC

The news came quickly when Lady Rhea Royce was dead. There had been rumors that she had a hunting accident and that her horse kicked Lady Royce off the saddle and hit her head.

Now the question is, who will now rule the House of Royce?

Ser Gerold Royce or her only child.

Back in Runestone, an infant child is lying in the crib, taking a long sleep since she has been fed and played with.

A little angel, they said. The young babe is not much of a crier unless she wants to be fed or sleep.

Her caretaker Maggy has been taking care of the young princess, yet lately, her lady mother, Lady Royce, only fed her and never much wished to spend time with her only child.

Well, it can't be helped.

It was not the child's fault.

Maggy firmly believed that despite how the child conceived with or without Lady Rhea's consent.

It was too late to change that.

Out came a beautiful princess with purple eyes, pale skin, and silver-gold hair. Yet her young princess lady mother refused to name the daughter. Many thought that the young child resembled too much of the father more than the mother, and it was a reminder of how much of a failed marriage it is.

Maggy was about to pick out a book when all of a sudden.

"Hey, you can't be here!"

"Out of my way!"

It sends nerves down the caretaker's spine as she takes a knife and stands in front of the princess's cradle in case it is an enemy.

BANG!

Opened the doors wide as he came forward.

Prince Daemon Targaryen, the Rogue Prince and now widow consort to Lady Rhea Royce.

"My prince," Maggy curtsies before her Lord.

"Where is the child?" Daemon had no time for it. He wants to see if it is true that Bronze bitch as he calls her, mockingly.

Maggy is hesitant, but he is the father of the princess. So, she took a sidestep for him to see his daughter.

Daemon looked down to see if this child was truly his. Yes, this child is his.

She looked full-born Targaryen princess.

'Guess the bronze bitch did something right for a change.' The Rogue Prince thoughted as he looked down at his sleeping infant.

She is perfect, he concluded.

"My Lord!" Maggy is surprised when Daemon reaches down and holds his daughter. The infant fussed, but she began to calm down since she was in a comfortable position.

"We are going," Daemon said to his daughter as he went outside her private room. Maggy followed after the Prince.

"Wait, my Prince…! Where are you going?" She tried to follow him at a fast pace.

"Taking my daughter and securing her inheritance," Daemon replies, never slowings down his steps.

Maggy insisted that the young princess still needed someone to care for and nurture her. Daemon automatically grabs Maggy by the wrist and says, "Then you are coming with us."

The caretaker shrieked in surprise as the Rogue Prince dragged her by the arm. All the guards and workers were stunned, but they quickly followed.

One thing led to another Maggy was screaming out of her mind.

Riding a big dragon wasn't her idea.

Carax's is red, huge, and lean of a dragon. In fact, it was big enough to be the next Vhagar. Vhagar is considered the original dragon ridden by Visenya Targaryen, Prince Baelon Targaryen, and now Lady Laena Velaryon.

Maggy then noticed that they had landed somewhere, and she recognized they were in other mountains of Vale. Maggy quickly slides off the dragon towards Prince Daemon and her young charge.

Daemon jumped off of his dragon with his daughter.

He looked at his child and saw how she looked at him.

No doubt his daughter is confused, and if she could talk, no doubt she would ask, 'Who are you?'

Daemon cooed at his child.

"You are definitely a Targaryen."

"My prince," Maggy called to him. Oh, Right. He almost forgot about the servant and brought her with him because his daughter might still want her as a mother figure.

"I have brought you here for my daughter's sake," Daemon told Maggy. "I want no complaints. Understood?"

Maggy looked at her young ward. She had fallen in love with that child since Lady Royce refused to look at her daughter. And that resoluteness was pushed onto Maggy, who dreamed of having her own children.

"For the princess. Yes." Maggy is determined to be there.

Daemon nodded, stood up, and looked at the sea.

"I name my child Princess Maelehnae Targaryen."

The newly named Maelehnae Targaryen will see the world and be great.

But greatness has a price.

It would help if you gave yourself a great sacrifice for the good of your kingdom.
