Tears pour down my face as I watch him. He doesn't see me; he doesn't
see anyone anymore, not even Mokuba. Seto Kaiba sits in his desk just
staring out at the rain pounding on the window. His eyes were unfocused,
the room smelled of smoke. "Why Seto, Why," I asked silently as I touched
my cheek, the same cheek his hand had hit only moments ago. All I did was
ask him why he did what he did, why did he ignore his brother, why did he
hurt himself. He asked me what I meant.
"I know ok," I yelled.
"What do you know Lynne?" His voice was quiet, cold, and dangerous.
"I know you release your anger by mutilating your body." I grabbed his
wrist and pulled up the sleeve. There were two half healed cuts and several
scars.
"How did you find out?"
"I found you passed out on the bathroom floor. You're lucky Mokuba didn't
find you. He looks up to you, seeing you like that would destroy him...
****SMACK****
"Shut Up! You know nothing about my life, you know nothing of what I go through, and don't EVER speak about my brother like that!" He marched around and sat at his desk.
After what seemed like hours he finally spoke. "Lynne?"
"Yes"
"What am I becoming?"
"I don't know." I answered quietly, daring to come a little closer, but still keeping a large distance from him.
"I'm a monster."
"No, you're a 17 year old boy kid trying to be an adult. You aren't even a senior in high school, yet you own your own company. You have to be a father to your little brother. That brother is a boy who looks up to you, a boy who doesn't care about money or respect or popularity, all he cares about it the person who used to call him 'Mokie'.
"What have I done?" Tears silently fell down his face.
"Seto it's ok. It'll be fine." I rushed over and put my arms around him, he never cried, at least not when anyone was around to see. He looked at me with his blue-gray eyes and saw the red mark on my face, and rubs it slowly.
"I'm so sorry Lynne"
"I know."
Light streamed into the room as the door was opened.
"Lynne? Seto?" a young voice called from the hallway.
"We're in here Mokuba," I said as he came up to the desk.
"What's wrong?" Seto asked concerned.
"I couldn't sleep."
"Come on Mokie, we'll help you get back to sleep." Seto smiled at me as he said it. I felt my heart leap; he hadn't smiled like that in weeks. Mokuba looked shocked.
"Come on Squirt." I said as I grabbed Mokuba's hand and Seto grabbed the other. He shut the door to his office and his past behind us.
