Chapter 1

Ken Matthews bounded up to Jessica in the hallway. She was standing at her locker talking to Lila Fowler. She looked as good as ever. He quickly planted a kiss on her lips before giving his exciting news.

"I have found the perfect person for your new squad."

"Who?" she asked intrigued.

"The new girl."

"The new girl has already taken over the old squad" she replied annoyance filling her voice. Lila laughed.

"No not Heather the other new girl."

"What other new girl?" jessica asked looking a little confusion.

"I know," Lila said. "She started a couple of days ago. I think she is in your biology class."

The confused looked remained on Jessica's face.

"She's brown hair, blue eyes, about this tall –'' Lila gestured and her gold bangles jangled.

"I have no idea who you are talking about Li."

Lila threw up her hands in exasperation. "You are hopeless Wakefield. You think of no one but yourself."

"Oh you're one to talk!" Lila turned to Ken ignoring Jessica's last comment. He had been watching the exchange between the two with amusement. "So what's so special about the new girl?"

"She was a cheerleader with her old school."

Jessica's eyes lit up. "What school?"

"Belmont High." Sweet Valley had played them last year.

"Was she any good?" Lila asked getting a little excited despite her only joining the squad to help Jessica.

"The way I heard it from a guy on the Belmont team was that she was one of the best."

Jessica eyes sparkled at the prospect of having more firepower to kick Heather's ass with. "Well I think we should go talk to her."

Ken and Jessica decided to go talk to her. Jessica spotted her right away in the library. She was sitting at a table in one of the isolated corners. As they walked toward her Jessica looked at her. She had brown hair that came to her shoulders. Her body was thin and muscled, the body of a cheerleader. She was wearing a pair of baggy jeans and a tight red tank top. Jessica fixed on a big smile.

"Hi I'm Jessica Wakefield." She held out a hand.

The girl looked up surprised but she shook her hand anyway. "Faith."

"I'm Ken Matthews." They shook hands.

Faith looked expectantly at the two. Jessica sat in the chair opposite her.

"Faith I have a little problem."

Faith looked more than a little confused. "O-kay."

"You see I quit the cheerleading squad last week and now I have decided to form my own squad. And I hear that you were a cheerleader at your old school so I would love you to join my squad."

Faith looked at Jessica. At that smile on her face. She couldn't join... not after the last time. Too much bad stuff had happened since then.

"I'm sorry I can't." She gathered up her books and left the library leaving Jessica sitting in the chair. Jessica knew what she needed though. She needed that girl to definitely beat Heather. And what Jessica wants Jessica gets.
