Note: I do not own Gilmore Girls. If I did I'd fix the whole Jess and Rory
thing. (Whimpers) but sadly I don't have that power.
Don't Let This Slip Away
She took it all in. There was Jess, standing in the doorway of her dorm. He looked the same. His hair was a little different and disheveled, but he still had a book in his back pocket. His eyes still spoke to her. His scent drifted to her. What was he doing there?
"Jess?" She asked.
"Rory, I..." He began. He looked tired, and desperate.
"What is it? What could you possibly have to say to me now? I mean, what comes after I love you?" She asked anxiously.
"I'm sorry." His eyes were dim.
"And now, you're going to run away, again right? This'll be what 4 times now?" She interrogated. "Are you going for the world record? Or do you like playing games with me?"
"I don't want to run away again." He said quietly. "I hate Stars hollow, I hate the people, and I hate the buildings, but I can't hate you. Not even if I tried. I wander, but no matter where I go, I still think about you. I dream about you. God, everything reminds me of you. You know we're meant to be together!"
"Look Jess, I was getting over you. I was accepting the fact that I might never see you again. I was accepting the fact that we couldn't be together. But now, you're making it harder." She sighed, and moved towards him. His eyes followed her every move.
"I can't live without you." He whispered and bit his lip.
"I can't do this! I can't give into you! It'll end badly. It always does!" she cried, but he had already pulled her into his kiss. It lasted a long time, until she pulled away. He gasped. "I'm sorry, I just..."
"Run away with me." He said. "We can go anywhere; do anything, just do it. Come on, run away with me." He was holding on to her shoulders. There was silence. She couldn't answer. Did he really think she could do that? Leave everything behind?
"No." She stated, simply, blinking back tears. He looked like someone had just torn out his heart and stomped on it. Repeatedly. He backed away. Then he walked away. She watched him leave. How could she let him leave? She ran out of the building and after him. He was about 10 metres away. "Jess!" She screamed. He turned to stare at her. "I love you!" She yelled again. "Then why won't you come with me?" He asked. She ran towards him and they shared a long, passionate kiss. When it broke she answered.
"It's not you. You know why I can't. My family, my friends, Yale. I can't leave this all behind without a second thought. Even if it is for someone I love. If it helps I'd give you my other kidney."
"That's nice but I don't need 3." He began a smile. "Do you expect me to stay in Hicksville forever?" He asked inquisitively.
"No, because I want to marry you." She smiled.
"Whoa aren't you getting ahead of yourself?" He said smirking.
"Are you saying you don't want to?'
"No No No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'd love to marry you."
"Great ! How about Saturday? We can elope. You can live in New Haven. It's friendly minus the nosy townspeople."
"I don't know, I saw someone selling Kirk-esque t-shirts at the corner."
"Oh my god, we should tell him"
"We will"
"So will you?" She asked.
"What?"
"Marry me?!" She asked excitedly.
"Yes. But this is degrading to my manlihood."
"I can see I'm going to be the pants in this relationship"
"Whatever you want, is what I want." He said and held her in his arms. Rory was going to be his wife. And their love was strong enough to take all the punches thrown. They had their happy ending...
Now, there was the problem of telling Lorelai. Oh well, she'll find out eventually. After all, they live in Stars Hollow.
