Salem 1653:
"I hereby banish thee from Salem." Shouted Reverend Traske. "Forever!!"
Hearing this Winifred grabbed her sisters hands and started running knowing that they'd take her sisters. "Winnie wherever are we going?" cried Mary.
"To the woods." she replied.
"But it tis forbidden." Sarah said with a gasp.
"Then they shant follow us. Billy said he'd bring us food every other day. We overheard the reverend during our date in the graveyard. Tis why I came home before he could take thee." Winifred said.
"I hear there is a spinster in these woods. Hopefully she shall let us stay in her home." Mary replied.
"Billy said as much. There's a manor home on acres of land. Hopefully it tis her home." Winifred said, clutching Sarah close to her.
Sarah, seeing her sisters get upset, started to sing a lullaby she had learned from their father. "Come little Children I'll take thee away into a land of enchantment."
"Sarah, now is not the time. We must find the spinsters home. Mayhaps you can sing to us tonight?" Mary asked as she quieted her younger sister.
"Yes Mary. Is that the house?" Sarah asked, pointing to a two story home in front of them.
"I think it tis but an outer building for crafts of some kind. Rumors say behind it lies the property." Winifred stated. "But tis our only option. As night approaches. Come, Come, let's straighten up." She finished while straightening her sister's clothing and bonnets.
But before they could knock on the door a woman's voice called out, "What brings thee to my woods? Are thou lost?" Turning around the sister saw a woman in red walking towards them.
"My name tis Winifred Sanderson. These are my younger siblings, Mary, the one in orange. And Sarah in maroon. I was exiled for loving someone without the consent of the church. I couldn't let them take my sister's so we ran here, thinking an old spinster lived here?" Winifred said.
"Well I am alone and I'm quite old." the woman said "so it's a reasonable assumption. But why are you young ones here? Also my name is Isolt Sayre dears."
"The reverend overpowered the magistrates' decision to allow Winnie to raise us after father passed away." Mary said a tear running down her cheek. Seeing this Sarah and Winifred hugged her.
"Why in the world would he do that? Where's thine mother?" Isolt asked seeing the sisters embrace each other.
"Father married my mother a seamstress first. She died in childbirth much like Mary and Sarah's. After losing three wives father decided to focus on his apothecary. Mary's mother was a farmer's daughter, Sarah's was the daughter of the local Butcher. I'm sad I couldn't use my magic to get us more time in the village. Our only relative lives in Britain. Though he may be deceased as well. He caught a new disease that's starting to make the rounds. At least that was in his last letter a few years ago now. Father died of smallpox five years ago." Winifred explained sadly, pointing in order of age at her siblings. Only to freeze when she realized she spoke about magic.
"Don't worry my dear, I'm a witch as well. Why haven't you gone to Hogwarts?" Isolt asked curiously as she turned a leaf into a beetle and back, causing Sarah to giggle.
"Because we couldn't afford tuition, and it'd be hard to get to it even if we could." Winifred explained as she straightened Sarah's bonnet.
"Does anyone know that thee came here? I can't in good conscience leave you alone." Isolt asked in a gentle manner.
"Only my boyfriend William, though he prefers to be called Billy, Butcherson." Winifred explained. "The plan was for him to bring us food every other day if we couldn't find you."
Isolt sadly smiled and said "I'll send my familiar with a note to him. Now come my dear. My home is beyond this outer building I use for my potions." Herding the girls past the building and onto a path.
Meanwhile in the bushes not far away William 'Billy' Butcherson breathed a sigh of relief having followed his girlfriend Winifred Sanderson and her sisters. He smiled and thought 'Guess I'll be going hunting more in the woods. Though only to mainly see Winnie, glad she found a witch that can hopefully teach her, Mary, and Sarah.' With a smile he turned to make his way home, never noticing an odd bird with black feathers mixed with red and gold watching him and nodding, as if it knew he meant no harm.
