Disclaimer: I don't own anything but Annabelle, her family, Bailey and her
family. Psh, do you think I'd be here if I owned Seth Cohen and Ryan
Atwood? Please, baby.
I sat in the front passengers seat of my dad's dark blue Mercedes. I closed my eyes and the drill began as I took a deep breath. "Bad day at school?" my dad asked, pulling out of the school. "And where's Bailey?"
I sighed. "What? Oh, no. Just tiring and boring. The fun part was lunch, though." I responded. "And Bailey's riding home with this guy that lives across the street from us... what's his name? Scott... Sand... Seth! Seth Cohen." I finished and my dad chuckled.
"What happened at lunch that made it so fun? He asked and I shrugged. "Just met some new friends and a cute guy." I smiled. It was okay to talk to my dad about guys. He had been a hot one in his high school days, so he knew. "Cute, eh?"
"Yeah." I looked at him and he just chuckled. I rolled my eyes and leaned my head back on the seat, inkling it back just barely so I could sleep. And sleep I did. I didn't wake up until my dad shook me awake once we were at the drive of our new house.
I yawned and grabbed my bag at my feet and I got out of the car. I ran upstairs to my room, which, like Bailey's, overlooked the pool. Which crested the ocean. I took one look outside and couldn't wait to get in, so I changed to a green two-piece and grabbed a towel. I headed outside and was already to dive in when I got a glance of that ocean and got one of the best ideas I had had all day. I ran back towards our garage, dodging the boxes, and found what I was looking for. My surfboard. I held it under my arm, my towel balanced precariously on my head, and walked back in the house.
"Dad, I'm going surfing! Mel, can I borrow your car?" I shouted, my hand on the doorknob, and Bailey's mom's keys dangling from her hand. I heard the confirmation from Mel and I smiled, throwing open the door and walking out, unlocking the car and popping the trunk.
I threw my surfboard in carefully and hopped in the front seat, starting the engine and finding my way to that lovely beach.
... ...
I came back two hours later, wet and wiped, when it was dark. I had gotten lost and just driven around a while until I found our neighborhood and our street. A nice little town. When I finally got home, I just left my board in there and walked upstairs to Bailey's room to see if she was home yet. I checked my watch and saw it was almost 9:30. I guess I had been out longer than two hours. Bailey was in her room, sitting on her bed and writing in her notebook. I smiled and walked in, crossing my arms over my chest and narrowing my eyes.
"What're you doing here?" I hissed and Bailey looked up, scowling at me. "Uh, I live here. "she replied and I broke out in laughter. She followed and I walked in, sitting on the edge of her bed, sure that my butt was dry enough to not get her covers wet.
"Oh my god, I had the best day ever!" Bailey said, sitting up and giggling. I rolled my eyes and smiled. "What? Playing video games with Seth? I went surfing. 15 foot swells came rolling in one after another, no waiting at all." I gloated and Bailey's mouth dropped open.
"What! You went without me? You suck, you know that, Boppo?" She said and shook her head. "Oh well, I'll get over it. I got to meet all the Cohens. They're... awfully American." She laughed. I sighed and shook my head again.
"So who won?" I asked and her brows knitted. "What? Oh... we left it at a tie."
"Right..."
"What? We did!" She exclaimed and chuckled. "I believe you." I said and got up, rubbing the back of my neck, smiling. Bailey shook her head and grinned, moving her notebook.
"No you don't."
"You're right, I don't." I laughed and sighed, stifling a yawn. "I'm going to go take a shower and then head to bed. Or take a shower, eat, then head to bed. You hungry? We can go head out to In N' Out burger and get some chips or something." I asked and Bailey shook her head, but still smiled, her eyes lighting up with something she just remembered. Bailey was weird like that.
"Nah, but you know what I just remembered? Ryan was there. You know, Ryan Atwood. He must live with them." She said and my jaw dropped.
"He was there? Oh my god, Bail, you have to tell me EVERYTHING. "I shrieked, resuming my place on her bed. Bailey laughed and shrugged.
"I only saw him for a couple of minutes. "She said and I sighed sadly. "I haven't been able to get him out of my head all day. But he's got a girlfriend, hasn't he? He looks like one of those guys who would have a girlfriend every five seconds." Bailey shrugged and yawned.
"I don't know. He doesn't talk much. Seth does all the talking. "She laughed. I nodded and got up again, really heading for the door this time.
"Okay, NOW I'm going to take a shower. Sleep good Bails." I said, yawning and she gave me a slight wave before I left her room and went to my own bathroom. I stripped off my two-piece and dropped it into the sink and started the shower, feeling for the right temperature. Once it was just right, I steppe din and let the cascade of hot water soothe my screaming muscles.
Life was good in the shower.
