Izuku woke up with a jolt, hearing his alarm beeping beside him nonstop. He didn't get up right away but after thirty seconds of continuous beeping, he had enough and slammed the off button, sluggishly sitting up in his bed. He looked around his messy dorm room and sighed at the state of its untidiness. He really had to clean it soon. He was just about to fall asleep again but got interrupted by a knock at his door. Awkwardly scrambling to his feet he went over to see who it was. As he opened the door he saw it was his childhood friend Bakugou. Weird, he had never actively come to his dorm room before today, especially unannounced. As he could guess, the encounter didn't start very friendly.
"Give me my shirt back nerd. " Bakugou spat, extending his arm out towards the greenette. Izuku stood dumbfoundedly for a moment before answering him. "What shirt? I don't have your shirt...Why would I have it?!"
"I know you took my shirt Deku, now fucking give it back! And don't try to lie! Kirishima saw you taking it from my room a few days ago!" He approached Izuku with a tiny step, his anger visibly sparking from his palms. "Alright..." Izuku sighed, figuring he was busted. He went over to his closet and grabbed the shirt in question, slowly making his way back to the blonde.
"Here you go... You see, all my shirts were in the wash, and your room was the closest. I didn't think you would notice..." Izuku mumbled, handing the shirt back to Bakugou. Very annoyed, he grabbed his shirt and stormed back to his own room, leaving Izuku stranded aimlessly by the door.
"What was I thinking, of course he would notice." Izuku thought, heading back to his morning routine. He quickly got his uniform on, brushed his messy green hair, and finally left to go eat breakfast with his classmates.
Izuku walked down the stairs with caution, since he'd recently been in the infirmary for a minor injury on his leg. He was then told to not strain it, so he had to be a bit careful to not accidentally fall down the stairs. He slowly made his way to the cafeteria in the main building, entering with minutes to spare before it started pouring down rain outside.
As he entered through the doors he walked over to grab some food, which consisted of a sandwich and some juice. He'd never really been hungry in the mornings when he was a kid, and that habit stuck with him all the way until high school, which his mom disliked to this day. She would always tell him breakfast was the most important meal of the day, but he'd never really taken that sentence to heart. Izuku slowly scanned the cafeteria, finally laying eyes on some of his friends by a table on the far right. He made his way over to them and sat down, as they welcomed him to their table.
While everyone was continuously chit-chatting about various things, Izuku sat quietly thinking about things that were not related to the other's conversations. That's when he suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder, making him flinch from the sudden touch.
"Yes?" He questioned, turning his face to greet whoever tapped his shoulder.
"You look tired Deku, I just noticed but... are you sleeping alright?" Ururaka asked nervously, seeming genuinely worried for him. He nodded convincingly, fully knowing it was a lie. The night before he has trouble sleeping and the cause was mysteriously unknown, but he could guess it had something to do with the responsibility of having One for All and its logistics. Any thought he ever had about his responsibilities having this quirk kept him on edge, and as for now, it was starting to show visibly for others to see too.
Well, that wasn't great...
"Hey Izuku, you ready to get going? " He saw Mina suddenly get up from her seat on the other side of him. He nodded and also got up from his seat, slowly following his classmates to their first class which was math. He entered the classroom, seeing the rest of the class was already gathered and in their seats. Without seeing where he was walking he suddenly felt himself falling harshly onto the floor with a thud. After quickly scrambling to his knees in embarrassment, he heard a familiar laughter emerging behind him.
"I can't believe it! You're even dumber than you look!" It was Bakugou again, this time sitting by his desk laughing at him on the floor. Izuku noticed his leg stuck out from under the table, meaning the reason he was on the floor at the moment, was because Bakugou had just purposely tripped him.
"Gee, thanks for that." Izuku mumbled, not even surprised that Bakugou would take revenge for the shirt incident earlier. He heaved himself up from the floor thanks to a helping hand from Iida. As he got up he barely had gotten up before he saw from the corner of his eye, someone grab Bakugou and drag him out of the classroom quite harshly.
What came next were various amounts of swearing, shouting, and scolding from what seemed like their teacher. After a few minutes of this, Bakugou was finally dragged back into the classroom by his collar and then was shoved back to his seat by the teacher. Izuku watched in horror, knowing that this had only made the situation worse for him later...
"Deku! You're fucking dead!" He heard Bakugou hiss at him from behind, feeling chills run down his spine in fear for his life. He was basically doomed, and it wasn't even his fault.
"Okay then, now who's ready for some maths?" The teacher asked, slamming a bunch of textbooks down on the front desk. Class 1-A responded with annoyed groans, but quickly shut up when the teacher gave them a threatening glare. He turned around and scribbled up a few math problems on the board, turning back to face the class.
"Who can answer this problem?" He asked. Immediately Iida and Momo raised their hands, leaving the rest of the class without a chance to even answer. Not that they wanted to either, and besides... Izuku had to plan a legitimate escape route to spare his life from Bakugou later on. Math was the least of his problems at the moment.
"Class, right before you leave for today I just need to tell you something." The teacher suddenly stopped everyone from packing up since class was ending. Everyone slowly stopped packing up, and respectfully turned their attention to whatever the teacher was gonna mention to them. "You see, during the next few days many of the teachers won't be able to have their individual classes because there is... an important meeting we all have to attend. So instead I'll give you this homework pack to be done with for next time.." He explained. He picked up multiple papers and waved them in the air for everyone to see.
As Izuku grabbed the homework he suspiciously studied his teacher, getting an odd feeling that the so-called teacher meeting was more important than it was described. Before he had any more time to ponder about it, he got interrupted by a figure approaching him by the door.
"All Might! What are you doing here?" Izuku asked quite surprised. Normally all Might world only speak with him personally if it had something to do with One for All, being his successor and all. Usually, he would also approach Izuku in a more private manner than right outside the classroom like this.
"Do you have time to talk, and is young Bakugou somewhere here too?" He asked, scanning the class as they were leaving for the training grounds. Izuku looked around but didn't see Bakugou anywhere either.
"I'm guessing it's about you know what... I'll go get Kacchan and meet you back in your office." Izuku said, leaving All Might in the hallway. While Izuku went to get Bakugou, All Might went back to his office and started preparing some tea for their little meeting.
Izuku hurried and quickly caught up with his friends before they entered the changing rooms, searching for Bakugou amongst them.
"Have any of you seen Kacchan, I kinda really need to speak with him." Izuku questioned. Kirishima was usually always with Bakugou, but he hadn't seen him since they left class...which was odd. "Alright fine, I'll look for him elsewhere." Izuku sighed defeatedly, hurrying to the next place he thought Bakugou might be. As he approached the blonde's room, he cautiously gathered courage and knocked on the door to his room. He waited for a few seconds before he heard muffled steps walk towards the door.
"WHAT!?" Bakugou snapped. As he saw it was Izuku standing by his door, it just made him more annoyed. "I told you earlier that you were dead, did you come here looking for me to actually kill you!" Bakugou growled, grabbing the greenette by his shirt collar threateningly.
"Whoa Kacchan calm down!" Izuku yelped, grabbing his own collar to avoid getting choked. "I only came here because All Might wants to speak with us...regarding you know what." Within seconds Bakugous death grip loosened and Izuku was let back down.
"Idiot, you have a phone! Next time just fucking call me instead of actively coming to my room to disturb me." Bakugou spat, pushing Izuku away from the door. He stepped outside and locked his door, grumpily stomping after Izuku toward All Might's office.
"By the way, why did you leave to go to your room? You know if we didn't have to speak with All Might now, we have training. Were you planning on skipping class?" Izuku asked, not getting an immediate reply from the blonde walking behind him. A few seconds later he suddenly felt a painful grip on his hair. He knew Bakugou was gonna answer his question sooner or later, just in his way...
"Sometimes nerd, I have better things to do than to train with you losers." Bakugou answered, not loosening his grip on Izuku's hair.
"Let go of my hair Kacchan." Izuku said, trying to get Bakugou to let go. To no avail, he just accepted his 'punishment' for asking the question in the first place and they finally made their way to All Might's office.
"Izuku, Bakugou I'm glad...you could make it. Bakugou please let go of Izuku's hair." All Might sighed, seeing the way the two had entered his office. He wasn't even surprised since when it came to the two, they would always fuss with each other.
"Idiot!" Bakugou hissed, pushing Izuku head-first into the sofa in front of them. He just barely avoided the collision thanks to All Might grabbing him halfway through the fall.
"Thanks..." Izuku mumbled and sat down, glaring at Bakugou as he too sat down on the opposite end. All Might sat down and handed each of them a cup of tea, which they accepted somewhat graciously.
"Now before we move on I need to clear some things up with you two. Bakugou, I heard something earlier about you tripping Izuku this morning?" All Might said, seeing how uncomfortable the blonde got when confronted. Bakugou rolled his eyes and knew all he had to do was apologize, but the task at hand seemed so...stupid.
"Sorry I guess." He sighed, rolling his eyes with annoyance again. "Anyway old man, what's this about?" Bakugou asked, shifting in the sofa as he sat uncomfortably. He glanced at Izuku, seeing he was sitting upright with anticipation to hear what the old man was gonna say. Well of course he would, it's about his 'very original' quirk.
"So you might have heard from your teacher earlier about the meetings that will occur soon. Well, it's deeper than a simple meeting you see..." All Might explained. He sipped some of his tea before continuing.
"The police and other pro heroes have dropped a location on a dangerous villain, and have asked the hero course to be part of that mission. However, only a select few students get to be on the mission as we can't have forty students with us on such a minuscule mission." All Might continued. He stopped and looked at Izuku, then at Bakugou to see if they understood what he had said.
"Yeah, go on. Do you know who is going from our class?" Izuku asked, excitement gleaming in his eyes. Bakugou gagged silently at the sight of the greenette's visible reaction but continued to listen in silence.
"Well, that's what we are going to decide tomorrow. I can although already tell you that you two are definitely on that list, but we'll just have to wait and see." All Might said. Izuku glanced over at Bakugou but didn't get any reaction back from him. Suddenly All Might stood up and went over to open the door, then turned around to mention one last thing.
"Do be kind and don't mention this to your class until it's announced tomorrow. We wouldn't want people to get their hopes up if they aren't going on the mission in the first place." All Might said, showing the two boys out. That concluded their little meeting, meaning Izuku could go back and train with the others and Bakugou...was gonna go back to his room to do whatever.
"You sure you don't wanna come and train... You do remember we're going on an important mission the day after tomorrow." Izuku mentioned making Bakugou turn back to him in frustration.
"Fine, but I'm not going back to train because you asked me to!" Bakugou snapped passing Izuku, then continued stomping all the way to the changing rooms. As they entered the training rooms they quickly got changed, but as always Izuku's zipper got stuck where he couldn't really reach. He was gonna get it fixed soon but he dreaded going back to Hatsume, she was all over the place regarding him and his costume.
"Kacchan...?" He cautiously approached the blonde as he whipped around, glaring viciously down at him.
"Again, really?!" He groaned, grabbing Izuku by the shoulders to turn him around. He felt Bakugou fiddle with his zipper for a few moments then finally felt it zip all the way. "Next time ask someone else or you're toast." Bakugou snapped, taking his leave from the changing room with Izuku tailing after. As the two of them approached the class, many of their classmates stopped training to greet their late arrival but as Aizawa came over they went back to training.
"You two are late, what's your excuse this time?" Aizawa asked, grabbing them each by the shoulders in frustration.
"All Might had to speak with us... We know about the meeting happening tomorrow and the mission later on." Izuku explained. In an instant, Aizawa's sour mood disappeared, as he seemed to immediately understand the situation.
"Alright problem child, you two can team up and practice by the run-down building over there, the one on the far end." Aizawa said, pointing to a shabby-looking building in the corner of the training grounds.
"Having meetings with All Might sometimes has its advantages!" Izuku said proudly, already knowing every teacher granted tardiness, only if it was because of All Might.
"Yeah...I guess." Bakugou responded, slowly following Izuku over to the building. "Anyway, ready to have your ass kicked!" He yelled, already moving in for an attack as they reached the building. Izuku was quick, using Black Whip to swing over to the other side of the building. With that, he was able to avoid Bakugou's attack which just made him more furious, as he was now heading toward him again, this time even more rageful.
"YOU'RE DEAD!" Bakugou yelled, and from there on out Izuku wasn't able to avoid any more attacks, therefore just accepting his fate.
Besides another trip to Recovery Girl before the mission
wouldn't hurt...right?
