A Selfish Heart
By Misao's Angel
She was sitting across from me her large watering eyes staring into the ice blue orbs that were mine. I knew she didn't necessarily approve of the situation, but she was taking it lightly for my sake. That was her, always caring for others first. Or rather, thinking of me first. She was waiting for me to answer. It's not that I was surprised when she told me, I had known for years. But when her eyes watered in rejection when I told her how I felt, that's when she accepted that her feelings would never be returned. And there she was, across from me, waiting for my second answer. The answer to a question asked by someone else.
I had liked her for a while now. And the question was what I had spent that time waiting for. But how do I answer, when another girl who loves me with all her soul was sitting across from me, watching my every move? She had spent years loving nothing but me, thinking about no one but me, and how do I repay her? Tell her I love someone else. But if I didn't say yes, I would lose my only chance. I loved her, I wanted to be with her, but I didn't want to hurt others in the process. But to love is to be selfish. I will tell her.
I took a deep breath, and opened my lips to confess my feelings. It was either now or never, and I would rather have now. "Yes I-I will. I will marry you Misao."
I'm so sorry Megumi.
