Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters used in this story. I just borrowed them and manipulated them to act in my fluffy little plot.

A/N: Ok, so basically, Ron says one thing and thinks another. That's what those short little sentences in italics are. (There are one or two of Hermione's thought floating around there though.) So if that was confusing you, now you know what it is all about. How many times have you said something and thought something completely different? If you're anything like me; way too many times to count.

Thankies to DarkFlower2113 once again for BETAing this for me. Yes, that is a word people! My word! Lol.

Chapter 7 – Giggling Is Never A Good Sign

Ron was sitting in the Common Room between Dean and Seamus when he looked up from his Quidditch Magazine upon hearing a shrill giggle come from the corner nearest him. He frowned when he saw Hermione and Ginny sitting there.

Uh oh the last time those two had been together and giggling had been involved it had not been good.

Where were those Extendable Ears when you needed them? Ron thought to himself as he tried to get involved in his magazine again.

"Ginny!" Hermione shrieked, it was obvious she was trying to be quiet but it just wasn't working that way.

"What?" Ginny asked in a forced innocent voice. She laughed a second later as Hermione had thrown a cushion at her.

"Would you two quit it?" Ron said more than asked the two teenage girls who were pink in the cheeks for laughing.

"Bugger off Ron. We're busy here." Ginny said, glaring at him briefly before looking back to Hermione and engaging her in conversation.

"So are the other thirty or so people in the room, but you don't hear them shrieking like banshees do you?" he shot back at her.

Wrong thing to say. Ron thought as his sister whirled around so fast that her hair fanned out behind her.

"We were not 'shrieking like banshees' as you so rudely put it."

"You bloody were!" Ron said, forgetting his sister's temper and standing up to stare her down.

You would think that Ron being a good twelve inches taller than Ginny would intimidate her, it did not. Ginny more than made up for lack in height with her murderous stares. Usually Ron would cower from her but he found that he wasn't in the mood to be pushed around by his younger sister.

"Grow up Ginny, you can't get your own way by glaring at people all the time!" He yelled, surprised at himself for yelling at his sister. She stood staring at him for a second in shocked silence before speaking.

"You want me to grow up? Look who's talking Ron! You idiot. We were just laughing." She said, rolling her eyes.

"You were giggling!" Ron said as though it was a crime. Ginny rolled her eyes and spoke again.

"So?" she said, putting an extra amount of emphasis on the word.

"So…so…urgh. Girls!" Ron said, throwing up his hands and noticing suddenly that they had the attention of everyone in the room. "What the hell are all of you looking at? This is a family matter!" he said, raising his voice so that everyone could hear him, not just the nosey people in front.

They soon snapped their heads back to what they had previously been doing but it was obvious that they were still listening. After all, it wasn't every day that Ron Weasley fought with his sister. No, usually it was Hermione that he would fight with, thought those days were soon becoming memories.

"Ron. What ever is the matter? You've been acting strangely for the last few weeks. You might think that I hadn't noticed, but I have. I just didn't want to say anything."

"That's a change. You not wanting to say anything." Ron said before he could stop himself.

"Excuse me?" she asked, her eyes round.

"You heard me." he said, voice getting harsher with each word he spoke.

"Ron, if I've done something to offend you…" Hermione started, obviously having no clue as to what she was supposed to have done.

"You bet you bloody have!" he said, pointing an accusing finger at her.

She recoiled then took a quick look around the room.

"Ron, maybe we should take a walk…" she said, obviously not wanting to discuss her private life in front of her fellow Gryffindors.

"If you don't know what's going on then I'm sure as hell not going to tell you." Ron said, leaning close to her as he spoke. Once finished he snatched up his cloak from his chair and stalked from the room.

Hermione stood rooted to the spot then cleared her throat and said loudly—

"Does anyone in this room know what that was about at all?" she asked, when she was met with silence she nodded. "That's what I thought."

"I've got to go Hermione. I've got to stop him before he does something stupid." Ginny said, looking at Hermione.

"After the way that he yelled at you?" Hermione asked incredulously. Ginny sighed, shrugging her shoulders.

"He's my brother Hermione. This is something I'm obligated to do." She said, grabbing her own cloak and making her way to the Portrait Hole.

Ginny walked down through the Castle, towards the one place that she knew she'd find Ron.

The Lake.

"You're a prat." She said when she stopped alongside him as he threw pebbles from the side of the lake into the calm water.

"Kind of aware of that right now Gin." Ron said, casting her a sideways look of frustration.

"Sorry. What happened? I know it couldn't only have been about us giggling. Not completely anyway." Ginny said, wrapping her cloak around her, to avoid the biting winds.

"It's nothing. I'm just not in a good mood, that's all." Ron lied, avoiding making eye contact with his sister.

"That's a lie and you know it." She said, crossing her arms.

"I can't tell you Gin…I wish I could but I can't."

"And why not?" she asked him, giving him a penetrating look.

"Because you're Hermione's friend." He stated simply.

"Well. I want to know what's going on but I'm not going to stop being her friend to find out. I guess you're on your own then Ron." She said and turned back to the Castle.

Ron watched her go for a minute or so before he called her back.

"Going to tell me are you?" she said as she stood at his side once more.

"If you promise not to tell Hermione." He said staring at her intently.

"I can't promise that! Hermione's my best friend. I can't keep secrets from her." Ginny said, scandalized.

"It's not…a secret per say…I just haven't told anyone what's bugging me." Ron said looking at the ground.

"We noticed…all of us. What is it Ron?" Ginny said, her tone of voice slightly annoyed but she touched him on the arm all the same.

"I…Hermione fancies me doesn't she?" he asked, already knowing the answer.

Ginny blinked a couple of times then looking anywhere but at Ron, answered him.

"No…"

"Liar."

"Hmph. How do you know?" she asked him.

"That's not important. What is that she stops fancying me. Now."

Surprisingly, Ginny laughed at his comment.

"What?" Ron asked defensively.

"You can't force someone to stop fancying you!" she said, laughing slightly.

"It's too weird Gin! Just too weird. She's my best friend. Not…not anything else."

"She loves you Ron." Ginny said seriously.

"I know. That's what started this whole bloody thing!"

"Not like that you git. Well she probably does but that isn't any of my business. What I mean to say is, she loves you more than anything and she wouldn't want you to be upset over this. You were never meant to know anyway."

"Why not though? Why did she want to keep it a secret?"

"Because she doesn't want to lose you as a friend! That's the last thing she wants. She cares about you a hell of a lot and hopefully it works both ways."

"Of course it bloody does, are you thick?"

"No, but you are."

"Very considerate isn't she?" Ron said, frowning.

"What?"

"She only wants me to be happy, she doesn't want to wreck our friendship or anything vile like that."

How could Hermione be so nice and he so mean? How could she like him?

"You're being an idiot."

"I know, I can't help it."

"I know. You never can." Ginny said, a note of amusement in her voice.

A/N: Meh. I have nothing to say. I still need to read through my chapters so I know what people are talking about. (I wrote this so long ago I don't even remember how it ends.)

To my reviewers:

JamieBell Lmao! There was more Harry/Ginny? Whoops. I think after this I shall stick to Harry/Ginny again. It's just so much easier. Of course, there will always be Ron and Hermione in there. I can't write a story without them at all! Sheesh lol.

LauraKay Meandering aimlessly? Damn, I was hoping no one would notice lol. Ah well, crap happens. I'm not that happy with the way I write anymore so I may not ever write again. Then we wont have to worry about aimlessness. Actually come to think of it, this chapter is meandering too lol!

BuckNC Yeah, I agree with you. I think the biggest problem is that R/H stories have been over done. I guess the whole ship is just a given now, there's nothing new to write about darn it. This story certainly isn't one of my best. Urgh.

Vels Glad you liked that bit. I liked writing it too, which is…great. I'm so not in an English writing mood at the moment incase you couldn't tell lol.

Stardrops Hey. It's cool. It's just when they write it rudely. Like 'Hurry up!" I don't mind when people genuinely mean to hurry up, that they enjoy it. =)

MyOwnLittleWorld Huggle! I love it. That's brilliant lol. You're review made me feel all warm and fuzzy! Lol. Good to know that my stories don't just generally suck. Going to be sticking to H/G from now on though. Thanks for your reviews!

Bella You just created a new story in itself! Lo9l. I can't do any of those things now though because I've already written the story so that wouldn't work, though they were very good ideas. Cudos to that! =D.

Raigeki I feel your pain! I'm just failed Maths for the term. Maybe it's because I like writing so much more lmao. Ugh, test suck and…yeah well we all know that anyway so I can just shut up about how awful they are now lol.

Daintress Well I'm glad that I'm doing well by you lol. I will have a look at your fics after I've uploaded, promise. (If I don't I give you permission to beat me over the head with a beater's bat. Deal? Cool.)

Well that's it this time around. Hope it was worth the Internet connection guys!

Nesserz.
