LOST CHOCOBO

Kinnel stared at the baby chocobo on his doorstep; he stuck his katakana into the ground, and crouched down.

" Umm... hi little guy." The little bird gave out a hungry chirp. "Are you hungry?"

The chocobo chirped even louder. Kinnel knew chocobos well. He spent his spare time, in-between school and combat training, at the chocobo ranch or his uncle Cid's airship; The Highwind. Both places where his father owned several of the speedy birds. Kinnel's old chocobo, Enix, was killed in a battle. No, Kinnel shook the thought out of his head. He wouldn't let this infant raise the nightmares he just got over. Kinnel went inside, his jet black, spiky hair attracting the attention of the young chocobo.

She waddled after the intriguing feathers coming out of the kind person's head. The chocobo eventually found her way into a large kitchen where the person was hunched over a delicious item.

"Here you go," Kinnel said laying a bowl of soup on the floor. "Geisha Green Stew, my specialty." She looked down at her food, and without a second to spare gobbled up the hearty broth. "Oh crap!" the young bird looked up "I'm late for my training with dad!" Kinnel threw on his black battle coat over his white tank top. The chains on his also black pants rattled as he took his katakana out of the ground while running towards the motor cycle that he heard his dad tell so many stories about.

"EEEEEE!" the chocobo screeched running after Kinnel. The young bird kept a steady pace actually keeping up with the motorcycle at top speed. Kinnel was surprised; young chocobos usually can't run this fast until they mature.

"You want a name little guy?" Kinnel yelled over the engine of the cycle. The chocobo chirped in approval. "Is Boco good?" another happy chirp confirmed the name. Kinnel looked in his rear view mirror and saw a stampede of approaching bikes. Kinnel recognized them immediately as the Loci gang. These hoodlums drove around taking part in drive by shootings. Kinnel's seen one chocobo killed in a meaningless battle, and he couldn't stand to see another. He drew his katakana and fell back towards the gang so he can protect his new friend.
