THIS one…...
A little background for this story. I woke up at three am one morning and this idea wouldn't leave me alone. I've had this in the works for a little while but didn't want to release it to you until I knew, without a doubt, it was ready….I also know it's been a VERY long time since I've given you something of substance. I hope you'll accept this….
I can't wait to hear what you think…..
Enjoy….

I can't wait to hear from you!
.
"NO FUCKING WAY!" Santana excitedly yells into the phone. She puts her hand up, stopping her rambling assistant mid sentence. "CEDES I'm so happy for you! It's about time you pick a date. I was starting to think you'd stay engaged forever! Of course I'll be there!" Santana hangs up the call, turning back to her assistant "Clear my calendar Jen, I don't care how you do it just do it"
The young assistant shakes her head "That's impossible. It can't be done Santana. We're on a super tight editing deadline for the ending of this book and they need some chapters for the beginning of the next book and then there's the dedication that you STILL can't seem to get down. It's just…."
Santana shuts down her laptop, stuffing it into her bag "Look Jen, Mercedes is one of my oldest and best friends. A friend I haven't seen in…way too long and she's FINALLY getting married. Besides, I can't remember the last time either of us had a day off. So please, take the rest of the week off because I'm going. I think we can both agree, I need to get out of this damn office"
"You have been practically living here and i guess…." Jen exhales, turning her attention back to the ipad "Okay. I'll book your flight right now and handle everything here, don't worry. Think you can at least take your laptop with you and maybe write a little while you're gone? Maybe inspiration will hit and you'll be able to lock down the dedication."
"I'll do my best, okay? I'll take everything with me." Santana smiles, reaching for her coat.
"Listen, if word gets back to me that you were in this office or even close to the building, I'll make sure these days go unpaid, me entiendes?"
"Me what? How do I spell that? Say it again….But slower" Jen huffs bringing up google translate
"Your last name is Rodriguez!" Santana laughs, opening the office door "Thanks for working this all out for me Jen, it means a lot. See you in a few days!"
Santana places the airpods into her ears and hits play on her current musical obsession. She takes a deep inhale upon exiting the building. If anyone was made for New York, it was Santana Lopez. She loved everything about this city from the tall buildings to the strange smells lurking on every corner but one of the things she loved the most were the last three months of the year. When you could physically see the seasons changing. This was the beginning of those changes. The cool October breeze against her face was what made living in this city a million times better.
It was a short, peaceful walk from her office to the loft. As the lock clicks she exhales, the loud echo of her heels throughout the plush loft seemed almost thunderous today. Looking around, she carelessly tosses her laptop bag onto the counter and reaches for the bottle of wine. As happy as she was for Sam and Mercedes, she couldn't but remember back to her wedding day.
How the hell did she end up here?
"Mercedes, that's amazing!" Quinn smiles, gripping the bag of groceries tighter, attempting to balance the phone between her ear and shoulder "I will absolutely be there, you know I wouldn't miss it for the world!" The blonde looks up at the building and smiles. She quickly rushes past security and enters the elevator rapidly pressing the close button, grateful to have beaten the rush. The elevator dings and she hustles down the hall. Quinn places the key into the door and presses her back against it to close it. "No no, it won't be a problem. I'll work it out with Richard and I will be there okay? I Promise!"
Her attention shifts towards the mantle where a dusty picture frame sits. The bag of groceries falls to the floor, her hand slowly falling to her side. Mercedes' voice fades into the background. Quinn exhales, taking the picture in.. How could she not? It was without a doubt THE best day of her life. In it stood a very happy Santana, in her insanely fitted white wedding dress, both arms tightly wrapped around the blonde. In the brunette's arms, a very in love Quinn with both hands around her love's neck. Memories of that happy day overwhelm her. What she wouldn't give to go back in time. Those two, crazy in love fools had absolutely everything ahead of them, neither would ever have guessed that….
"Quinn? Did I lose you? Can you hear me?" Mercedes calls out, drawing the blonde's attention back "Shit. I hate this phone! Hello?"
"Sorry Cedes, I'm here." Quinn responds, reaching down to collect the forgotten groceries "No No you're not interrupting anything, I just got done grocery shopping. Yeah okay. No, I'm going to drive, I know I know but I never get to drive in the city. Okay. I'll see you soon"
Quinn hangs up the call and places the phone on the counter. She pushes play on a forgotten song and reminisces as she puts the groceries away.
How did she end up here?

.
A few days later, Quinn pulls up, staring up in awe at the mansion. Maybe she had the wrong house? She shuts the car off and verifies the email. This was the house.
She takes in the beautiful, Victorian style house with its wrap around porch and shutters that could make a grown man cry. Lowering the windows, the smell of freshly cut grass immediately hits her senses. It is absolutely intoxicating. Living in the city, she had almost forgotten that smell. Mercedes and Sam had rented an eight bedroom house and insisted all of the gleeks stay together.
"Helloooo?" Quinn calls out, setting her scarf onto the rack. "Anyone here?" She extends the handle on her suitcase and tucks it into the corner, looking around. Hearing voices coming from the kitchen, a smile spreads across her face. "Rachel? Kuuuuurrrtt?"
It had been way too long since she'd been able to escape the office and she was ready for a weekend surrounded by friends. Lord knows she needs this small escape. Quinn stops in her tracks when she hears a laugh, it's not just any laugh. This laugh is distinctive and it sends shivers down her back.
Santana's laugh immediately stops upon hearing the heels clicking against the hardwood. She turns her head and the room falls silent.
"QUINN!" Rachel yells, immediately running past everyone to embrace the blonde. Quinn smiles awkwardly, accepting the hug. "I thought I heard someone pull up! I'm so glad you were able to make it!"
"Hi Rach" Quinn smiles, nodding "I'm glad I could sneak away. Richard was gracious enough to let me have the weekend"
"Awww how nice of Richard" Santana scoffs "I thought someone had to die in order for him to GIVE you a day off"
Rachel and Kurt exchange worried looks
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeey ya'll!" Mercedes yells entering the kitchen and immediately the attention shifts.
"CONGRATULATIONS!" The friends all yell in mock cheer, toasting as the happy couple accepts drinks. "WOOOOOOOO!"
"We're so glad you guys could all be here with us. There's no way we could do any of this without you so thank you, everyone." Sam smiles, lifting his glass
"Seriously guys" Mercedes interrupts "I know there's been a lot of shit going on and it means the world that you guys could put it all aside for the weekend"
Santana and Quinn exchange a quick look before turning their attention back to the couple.
"Speaking of, can I talk to you two alone, please?" Mercedes asks. Quinn and Santana nod before following Mercedes out the kitchen and onto the porch.
"I know I kinda sprung this on the both of you and left out some details but I was afraid if you knew the other was coming I'd lose both of you" Mercedes sniffs "I don't know what happened between the two of you but I do know that I need you BOTH here with me. Will you guys be able to be adults for the weekend?"
Santana cross her arms as Quinn shrugs
"I'm here for you Cedes" Santana sighs
"I'm here for you too, M…And only you." Quinn nods
Santana scoffs "Was that supposed to hurt me?"
Quinn turns "Are you even capable of emotions!?"
"AH" Mercedes interrupts, putting her hands up "None of that this weekend. Look, thank you both for trying. I don't expect the headboards to be bumping or anything but I do expect you to try and be civil"
"Civil? You obviously don't remember us in high school" Santana laughs "You really expect a lot from Satan and Lucifer, you know that?"
"Stop" Quinn huffs, smacking the girl's shoulder and shaking her head "We will do our best Mercedes. Promise"
Mercedes leans against the railing, observing the two. Quinn and Santana had been separated for almost a year now and no one had really known why. She was secretly hoping this weekend would remind them of what they had. Now noticing the stolen glances between the two, Mercedes was convinced this weekend would either be renewing or devastating.
