{[A/N: This Buffy FanFic takes place in the first or second season. Please review, this is my first attempt at something like this!]}

A lone figure walked along the street, her shadow reflected up against the wall due to the bright, full moon. She walked at a fairly quick pace, as if she was determined to get somewhere, but not in too much of a hurry. One hand clutched a white plastic bag. The bag had writing on it but her hand covered part of it, so all you could see was "The Mag..." The rest was hidden. After walking some distance, she found herself in the park, which was dark and empty except for one man who seemed to find peace in the emptiness. The girl walked up to him and sat down, without a word. She quickly placed the bag between them. Leaning in, she gave the man a kiss. He halfheartedly returned it. "You're early. I didn't expect you for another 10 minutes." Said the man in a deep voice. He was a young ,in his mid twenties, attractive yet pail. She was an even younger lady, most likely 19 or 20. She was what some might describe as an "average gal." Nothing fancy, yet she wasn't ugly either. "You're here early too. Does it really make a difference?" she replied in a voice that made her sound young and foolish, like a little school girl with a big crush. "You never know." His voice had a casual tone, as if late night meetings in a disserted park were a regular thing. He seemed to ignore her flirty behavior. "But you brought what I asked?" "Of course I did. I've got it right here." She said. "You know I'd do anything you wan..." her voice trailed off as the man pulled out a long knife. "Oh darling," he said in a sarcastic tone of voice. "You've done plenty." The knife plunged into her stomach, causing her to gasp and choke. "You...I...I thought...you loved me..." she said as her eyes began to close. The man looked at her and replied coldly, taking the bag in his hands. "Love is for fools."

{[A/N: If this was an episode, this is where they'd have the opening credits:-) ]}

Buffy walked into school, her backpack hanging loosly over one shoulder. People talked, laughed, and shouted all around her. She walked up to her locker to find that Willow was already there. Buffy approached her with a smile but when she saw the grim expression on Willow's face, she froze. "Hey Will...what's wrong?" she asked, searching her best friend's face for an answer. Willow just replyed "There was an accident in the park last night. There was a girl and she...well...Giles will explain." She turned and looked at Buffy to follow. "He's in the library." Buffy followed without a word.

When she got to the library, Giles was there pacing back and forth. He approached her and held out a computer printout. "I got this from the internet, after Willow helped me do alittle hacking into th..." Willow coughed signling that it was time for Giles to move on. "Anyways, they found her in the park this morning." Buffy took the paper and looked at the picture. It showed a girl laying on a bench. Her eyes were closed and her arms folded neatly across her chest. Below her arms though is where the picture got...shall we say, freaky. The girls shirt had been ripped open at the bottom, leaving her stomach exposed. There was an odd symbol drawn on her stomach in what looked like red marker. It had a huge circle in the center with five straight lines drawn, forming something that looked like a star. Around the girls neck was a red pendent. Buffy looked up at Giles. "The red marks...is it...?" she said, unsure if she wanted the answer. Giles nodded, a sad look in his eyes. "God," Buffy said, half outloud, half to herself. "Who would...carve that...in someone's stomach!?"
