Chapter: 1

Team Seven was walking back from Wave towards the village gates. Naruto was feeling a little bad about himself because of everything he had experienced there. Haku, Zabuza, Gato and his men, Sasuke almost dying and the Kyuubi's power showing itself for the first time. All of it had taken it's toll and right now, he just wanted a little comfort. He started talking to Kakashi, trying his best to put on his usual smile, "Hey Kakashi-sensei, want to go to Ichiraku's? I'll pay!" Kakashi just looked at him and said, "Sorry Naruto, I have to go make a report to the Hokage. Maybe later." By then they arrived at the village and Kakashi had disappeared in a plume of smoke. He went over to Sakura, who was still fretting over Sasuke's injuries, completely ignoring his. "Hey Sakura! Want to go over to Ichiraku's? I-It won't even be a date, just two freinds hanging ou-" she smacked him over the top of the head, especially hard this time and screamed at him, "No I will not go on a date with you Naruto now leave me alone!" She then went over to Sasuke to ask him out to a date, which he rejected. He went over to Sasuke in a last ditch effort to spend tie with one of his teammates, "Hey Sasuke! Wanna train? It'll be great!" He said with a hint of desperation in his voice. Sasuke gave him an annoyed look, "No loser, I'd rather train alone than with a weakling like you." He was still a bit mad that he had to be saved by Naruto and walked off. Leaving him all alone.

Naruto was forced to walk down the streets alone, the normal glares aimed at him by the villagers hurting him more than usual as his thoughts got darker and darker. Thinking about how he and Haku were so similar and how he could ended up just like him. 'I'm all alone again. I thought that when I got a team I'd finally belong somewhere.' He felt a hand on his shoulder and when he turned around he was met with an old man that looked extremely similar to him. Same blond hair, same blue eyes, same tan skin. Even the facial structure was similar. All that was missing was the three whisker marks. He looked old and he had a blond mustache and what appeared to be normal civilian clothes, but it was clear from his body structure that he was still a formidable fighter. This man had a look of shock on his face. Followed by joy. He brought Naruto in for a deep hug, which had Naruto surprised and a little creep-ed out. The he pulled back and apologized, then and introduced himself, "Sorry, I saw you walking down the street and then I just knew it was you. I'm James by the way. You're Naruto Uzumaki aren't you?" Naruto looked surprised and asked, "How do you know my name?" James suddenly got a look on his face. He looked up at Hokage Tower and frowned as he narrowed his eyes, then said to Naruto, "I think the Hokage would be the best person for us both to get answers from."

Naruto wanted to know who this person was and didn't have anything better to do so he agreed. As they walked to the Hokage tower James noticed the looks the Naruto got along the way and his eyes narrowed as thoughts along the lines 'Dogs, they'll learn their place soon.' They got to their destination and James was about to knock on the door, but Naruto just walked in as soon as they got to the door. He frowned to himself as they walked in and thought to himself. As soon as the Hokage looked up he had a look of confusion on his face and asked, "Naruto who is this you brought here?" At this Naruto introduced James to the Hokage and he explained who he was to the Hokage, "I came here to ask a few questions, but first I'm going to tell that I am Minato's father." Hiruzen had a skeptical look, "And why exactly should I believe you?" James answered, "You can test my DNA but I assure you I am his father. I can also tell you a little secret that I want to know why you've been keeping." Hiruzen motioned for him to continue, "If I am Minato's father then this boy Naruto here is my grandson." Hiruzen's eyes widened at that and immediately activated all the privacy seals in the room. At the same time Naruto exclaimed, "What!" in surprise. The Hokage looked at James examining his facial expressions and body language. He wasn't lying. Hiruzen simply asked, "Who are you?" James sighed and said to shocked Naruto, "Sit down, it's a long story." And so he began to tell the 'truth', "Millions of miles from here, out in deep space, is a planet called Viltrum. Viltrumites are remarkably similar to humans, but we can fly, move at super speeds, and possess great strength." Naruto and Hiruzen were absolutely surprised while hearing this, James continued, "I was born on this planet, and me and the rest of my kind are sent at a certain age, to other, lesser developed worlds to help them, as their protector. I was sent here at a young age and started a family here. I was there at Naruto's birth and when everything went wrong I thought that Naruto had died, and I knew Minato died, so I went home. Thinking my family was gone."

Hiruzen knew he wasn't lying, he could tell. But just to be sure he was going to test his DNA with Minato's. Naruto looked down and tears of anger and betrayal started to form in his eyes, he said, "Why?" He looked up at Hiruzen and said louder, "Why didn't you tell me! All those times I asked you who my parents were, you lied to my face! Why!" Naruto understood why his grandpa didn't raise him, he thought he was dead. No, the biggest betrayal in his mind, was Hiruzen's lies. James moved his arm over to Naruto's shoulder to comfort him and it did help, just not much. Hiruzen tried to justify himself, he would tell Naruto the truth, he just wouldn't like it, "Naruto your parents had a lot of enemies, it had to remain secret for your protection." Naruto asked, "But why couldn't you tell me? I spent so long wondering who they were, if they loved me. I'd understand if you couldn't tell everyone else, but why not me?" This is the part he wouldn't like, "Naruto, you were a very young child, I couldn't just-" James interrupted him as his face darkened, "You didn't trust him." Hiruzen looked down, Naruto looked mad and all was quiet for a moment before Naruto asked, "Will you at least tell me who my mother was?" Hiruzen saw this as an opportunity to get favor back with Naruto, but before he could answer James began to speak, "Kushina Uzumaki. She was a very strong willed woman, very loud too. Also the best human woman I've ever had the pleasure of meeting." He lied through his teeth, in truth he couldn't care less about her. Naruto decided to take his leave. He had a lot to think about. He also wanted to get to know the last living relative he had.

After they both left the building when James had his DNA tested and it was positive, they went to quote "The best Ramen shop in the world Datebayo!" As they were conversing and eating, Kakashi walked by and decided to eat with them. He asked who the stranger was and James introduced himself as Naruto's grandfather. At first Kakashi was suspicious but he assured that he had been tested as Naruto's grandfather. James brought up Naruto's training, "So, Naruto, I am quite the skilled fighter. I could train you as a proper Viltrumite. You could even live with me if you want. We are family after all." Naruto looked ecstatic and said, "Yeah!" Then he looked a bit down and said, "Wait, what about Kakashi sensei?" At this point Kakashi felt a bit guilty to what he was about to tell him, "Actually Naruto, since the Chunin Exams are coming up and you already have a teacher, I was going to focus on Sasuke and Sakura." Naruto's face darkened but didn't say anything as he thought to himself, "Left out again, left behind again. Why am I not surprised.' Then he stood up, payed for his meal and said, "Fine, Jiji, could you show me where you live please. I want to start training as soon as possible." Now Kakashi just felt bad, 'Eh, I'll make it up to him later.' James said, "Sure." While giving Kakashi a dark look while Naruto wasn't watching, and left with Naruto. Kakashi adopted a suspicious look and thought, 'Something's off about him.'

When they made it back to Naruto's house to help him pack up James' anger was only growing and he decided that Naruto's 'training' would begin. "Naruto, why do you want to become Hokage of 'those' people? All they've ever done is hurt you from what I've heard of them from you." Naruto's smile faltered and responded, "Well, not all of them. Sakura-chan and Sasuke-teme, my teammates cares for me." He said in a matter of fact tone. James had a confused look on his face, "You said that, just before we met, you were really desperate for someone to spend time with after your mission. Where were they when you needed them." They were half-way done packing, "As a matter of fact, I remember Kakashi looking up to Minato as a second father. He should have known you were in trouble emotionally, but he wasn't with you until later today. And even then he didn't go looking for you, we found him on accident." Naruto was trying not to cry, now that he thought about the only ones who EVER really helped him was Iruka and the Ichirakus. And even then he really had to fight for Iruka to look at him like he wasn't a monster. He really felt bad now he had no idea his need for positive attention was that bad, "O-oh, wow." His voice was trembling. He was really starting to question why he even wanted to be Hokage in the first place. If he was being totally honest with himself, his reason for wanting to be Hokage was kinda selfish. He didn't want to think on it anymore. James decided to speak again, "You know on Viltrum we don't turn our backs on each other, we're very close nit." That wasn't a total lie. A Viltrumite committing treason or even breaking the law was unheard of. Mainly because that would mean instant execution. Naruto looked hopeful, "Re-really? No matter what? Even if I'm a Jinchuriki?" James smirked on the inside, hook, line, and sinker, "Well, yeah we're a very advanced society compared to this one so, we don't focus on superficial things like weather or not you're a Jinchuriki. And remember, first and foremost, you are a Viltrumite. You're so much more than just a human." They were done packing by now and were heading towards James' house, Naruto got a worried look on his face, "Wait, but why haven't my powers shown up? Is there something wrong with me?" James chuckled and said, "No there's nothing wrong with you. A Viltrumite's powers usually surface when their between the ages of 10 and 18." Naruto looked relieved at this. He felt okay for once. He felt he had a family. And because he already had his approval, he suddenly felt less inclined to get the villager's approval, it just didn't matter to him as much.

They arrived at his home in relative, comfortable silence. It wasn't anything special. It was in a secluded area just outside the village. Ever since he left he didn't have anyone take care of it when he got back, but before he even stepped foot in the village again he fixed the house up like it was before. They unpacked and got him settled down and when that was done, they moved on to the topic of Naruto's training. They had discussed that since they couldn't get Naruto to practice his powers until he got them, they would focus on his education since he got so little of that as a kid and only lightly train his fighting skills. With this settled they noticed it was late and decided to get to bed. They would train in the morning.
