Prompt: Allergic Reaction
Max woke up from her coma nearly a month later. She was lucid for the first three days. The first thing she noticed was she had lost her sight. Max remembered how Vecna always went for the eyes. She knew she should consider herself lucky to be alive.
A week after Max woke up, Lucas convinced her nurse to let her go outside. Lucas wheeled her out to the hospital courtyard. "So, I've been working on a new walkman for you," Lucas rambled. "Sadly, Jason broke the old one. I've added plenty of Kate Bush songs for you."
Suddenly, Lucas stopped. He took a seat on the bench beside her. Max took in a deep breath. She missed the air from outside after being trapped in the hospital walls. The atmosphere in the hospital became stuffy after she consumed it for so long. "Nurse Darcy said you'll go home next week," Lucas said. "We can have that movie night. Or whatever you want to do. The last thing you'll probably want to do when you get home is spending hours inside."
A pair of legs landed on her. It was a bee. Before Max could do something, she felt a sting. Max felt unable to breathe. "Lucas," she croaked out. Max felt rapid swelling on her tongue, and she was losing consciousness.
Lucas noticed the bee's corpse on the ground. "I can't breathe," Max gasped out.
"It's going to be okay," Lucas explained. He remembered how badly Max was allergic to bees. Lucas mentally swore at himself for not thinking about that. "I need a doctor over here! My girlfriend got stung by a bee! She's allergic!"
A wave of nausea hit Max. Luckily for her, a doctor was on his lunch break. He said something before urgently pushing Max back into the hospital. Lucas stood by her side, holding her hand. The doctor injected the shot into her.
The swelling started to go down. The doctor removed the stinger from Max gently. "You might feel some of the symptoms for a week," the doctor said. "Keep an eye on where the wound entered."
Max only nodded. I guess it's back to the hospital room forever.
