Since he returned to Hyrule, life was... good for Link, in a way. Ganon's threat was gone, he was allowed to retire as a hero, and joined Zelda's personal guard to be called upon only in extreme situations. He was also given a house in Castle Town.
After his adventure in Termina, he had also found that since he spent so long doing so many time loops that he had grown nearly to the age he used to become when he pulled the master sword.
A few years passed, and he started gaining the habit of crossing Hyrule Field to take a walk in Kokiri Forest. This helped him clear his mind, relieve stress, and think.
He hadn't done it in months.
Link felt that it was the perfect thing to do after his breakdown earlier.
He felt the wind rush against his hair as he rode Epona, and it reminded him of when he used to ride her only a few years ago, but also not a few years ago, but also a lifetime ago. Time made no sense anymore. Time never made any sense.
Why was he even chosen to carry out that quest? Why couldn't he have just kept the spiritual stones instead of using them to get the master sword? Doing so cost them the tri-force of power. How could he have been so stupid?
He looked up and realized he was going the wrong way, to the forest, he needed to be going to the mountains! He needed to free the gorons, defeat Volovagia. Where was his sword? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MASTER SWORD!? HE NEEDED TO... wait. Hadn't he already done all of that?
Link realized that he was nearing another breakdown, and tried to ground himself.
"Okay," he told himself, "I'm riding Epona, but not on a quest. I anyway collected the medallions, and finished my first quest. The tri-force is safe, the master sword is safe, none of my mistakes ever happened. I'm going to Kokiri Forest for a walk because I need to clear my head."
(A/N, chapter not complete, I will finish it.)
