"Miss Kari Kamiya. You're right on time. Please, come in," said TK's mother.
A nineteen year old Kari who wore a pink cotton T-shirt with long black leggins and white sneakers stepping side. She wore her hair in a long brown ponytail.
Nancy pulled her son out from behind her and told him to introduce himself. The frightened five year old couldn't speak. He could only gazed up at the young woman who towered over him.
"Your not gonna squish me are you," asked the child apprehensively.
"TK!" Nancy scolded.
"It's alright Mrs. Takaishi. It can't be a little intimidated for a child to meet someone new." Kari stated looking down at him kindly.
"You have my number if you need anything," TK's mother said just before she said goodbye to her son and exited her apartment.
TK stood there frozen stiff with fear. Kari knelt down to him and smiled.
"I like that design on your shirt," she told him as she pointed to the cartoon character on his chest.
"Him 'Super Rex' he's a cartoon crime fighting dinosaur. I have his action figure," he whispered.
Super Rex was the latest action cartoon that was all the rage with young boys.
"There's another little boy whom I babysit that likes Super Rex. His name is Davis. Kari told him. "How about we go to your playroom and play with Super Rex? Would you like that?"
TK and Kari played on the floor in his playroom having fun with a stuffed green T-Rex and a stack of blocks.
"Roar! Roar! Roar!" Said TK knocking the stuffed dinosaur into the pile of blocks sending them to the floor.
Next TK wanted to play hide and go seek. Kari nodded and covered her eyes. She counted to ten.
"Ready or not here I come," she proclaimed just before she searched throughout the whole apartment and found TK hiding behind the sofa in the living room.
Next Kari pulled out her cellphone and turned on a playlist. She danced happily hand in hand to the music with the five year old. She picked the boy up in her arms and asked him if he was hungry. He nodded and they went to the kitchen where she made him a peanut putter and jelly sandwich. After he finished eating they sat on the floor of the living room and played board games action figures toy trucks legos and finger paints.
Kari reached over and playfully dabbed a bit of blue paint on the tip of his nose. TK who hands were covered in paint ran his hands through his hair and down his face as he wished to paint himself.
Kari used a damp dish towel to whip the paint from her hands. She got to her feet and picked him up in her arms.
"Come on little guy. I think its bath time for you," she said.
She gave him a warm bubble bath washing the paint out his hair and off his face. She wrapped a soft white towel around him and they walked to his room. She helped TK to change into some clean clothes after which she noticed it was noon which met TK had a nap to take.
"Come on little one," instructed Kari. "Let's go lay down and have a nap. I can tell you a nice story,"
"Will you lay down and sleepy bye with me," he inquired.
Kari smiled and picked him up in her arms. "Yes little one. I will go sleepy with you."
Kari carried him to the living room where she pulled down the window shad. Next TK laid down a top her placing his head against her soft warm chest. She placed a blanket over them and hugged him close. He inhaled deeply taking in her sweet scent.
"Miss Kari you smell like flowers," the little boy commented looking up at her. "You're so nice and soft and warm and pretty."
"Oh! Why thank you so much little guy," she responded just before kissing his forehead.
Kari hugged him close and told him a nice story to help him fall asleep.
