Chapter 1, Rest is all it Takes
"Egh, dammit..." breathed Deidara. He let out a scoff before wiping his brow with his sleeve.
His foul attitude caught the attention of his partner, Tobi. Deidara couldn't see it, but under his mask, Tobi raised his eyebrows in intrigue.
"Ohh, Deidara!" Tobi hollered. He waved his arms to garner the blonde's attention. "You look tired, Partner! Maybe we should rest…"
Tobi's suggestion earned a scowl from Deidara. He wasn't in the mood to stop and sit, and they didn't have the time.
"Will you shut up with that? Hm, I've already told you 'no' the past four times you've asked…"
Deidara's reply made his partner restless. Tobi wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer again.
"Deidara-!" Tobi whined, "I'm tired too, Partner! C'mon, let's rest! Please, please, please!"
To badger Deidara, Tobi latched onto his arm swung himself with every plead. Tobi had finally made Deidara snap with this, and his patience with the man was already wearing thin beforehand.
Deidara whipped his arm away from Tobi and barked at him. "Will you shut up already-?! Hm! O-kay! We'll take a minute, but for the love of God, stop acting like a child, yeah?!"
This pleased Tobi, and it made him straighten his posture and put his fists to his chest. Finally, after a few hours of pleading, Tobi finally got what he wanted.
"Excellent! I'll tell ya, Deidara- we should stop and eat…! I reckon there's a ramen shop mmm… north of here, a few kilometers away!" Tobi declared with gusto. His confidence was on par with a rooster, yet his finger pointed southward.
After some annoyed hesitance, Deidara gave Tobi an odd side-eye. He took a moment to reply to him. "...You're sure about that?" he asked, flatly.
"Hmm-?" hummed the masked man. "Of course I am, Deidara! I've been around these parts quite a few times! I know it like the back of my gloved hand by now, and I will happily say-"
"Okay-" interrupted Deidara. "I get it… we'll find it eventually, hm."
As Deidara walked past Tobi to trudge on, Tobi couldn't help but snicker at Deidara's reaction. My oh my, Deidara was quite the short fuse!
