"Rain" Sometimes, it's just so lonesome…
Whenever I find myself locked up in my room as the cool rain showers down on Tokyo, it just comes to mind that through so many months without him, I start to need him badly.
I ran my fingertips against the cold window pane as I watched water flow at the opposite side. It was times like these when I start to reminice what has transpired after the night that he vanished. Questions then filled my head…
Do I really need him?
It was simple but very complex.
Is he aware that I still think of him in each passing moment of my life?
It was simple, but I needed to know desperately.
Or perhaps, he really did leave…for good.
Silence engulfed my empty room tightly, crushing each form of matter…including myself. I smoothed my hand through the cozy azure blanket that kept me warm as well as my auburn hair, which was tucked away gently in a braid.
A bitter-sweet smile ran across my lips in an effort to losen the loneliness that lingered within me.
The 4th of May…
I sighed and turned to a snapshot with me and Shinichi in it together. It was framed perfectly that it was the epitome of my room's comfort as well as my own.
Yes, I miss him so.
No matter how hard I try to forget, I still cannot find the right heart to forgive him after he left without saying so, even if I knew he was sorry for it. I tried, really, but only to fail again and again. But looking back, I couldn't hate him for who he was. He sometimes was selfish, self-centered and snobbish but I still insisted to keep up with his complex personality.
Because I knew he was more than that.
He was a friend…someone I have always looked up to.
And now, as the rain continued to fall, I knew then that I had so much to thank because of this day. Even if he isn't here with me at the moment, I'd consider that this day meant a lot to me more than it did to him.
Because without this day, I would never have met him.
I smiled when the rain slowly softened, clearing the mist that once filled the busy streets of Tokyo. They were all cleansed—WE were all clensed.
As a streak of sunshine came through my room, I whispered softly with my head held high,
"Happy Birthday, Shinichi…"
