Hi, I was writing a fanfic when I had the idea why not combine all the ideas I have. Here is the rather terrifying product of that idea.

Disclaimer: Owns nothing. Maybe in future, who knows. Pairing come and go, so don't expect me to stick to one. But nothing creepy and none btw the tagged characters. (Mainly because I am not a fan of ghost-human relations or student-teacher relations.).

M because I am not censoring things.

Lots of lgbt+ characters in this. As canonical as possible. A bit changes to make things sense.

I am going to go with the most sympathetic explanation for every character, (Just in case you feel I am too lenient)

Summary: On the night of Halloween of 1981, Lily Potter decided that her job wasn't done and returns as a ghost. Ten years later, Quirrell has a plan that involves a sorting hat and Mr Harry Potter. Many suffer the consequence of this plan. Lucius Malfoy becomes the instigator and target of various revenge plots. And these, of course, involved his son Draco Malfoy. And Harry realizes that maybe "he" wasn't a boy after all.

Death was swift, even though he had to duel a bit. James Potter opened his eyes to a void filled with white light. There was nothing to touch, smell, see or taste. Was this hell? The sensory deprivation was driving him mad. With nothing to distract his thoughts, his thoughts went to his mistakes. Peter, the lack of preparation they had, Harry, Lily. Lily was even planning to set a escape route in Harry's bedroom, but Voldemort attacked before they could do that. Peter probably had informed him of their plans to create the escape, which prompted him to attack them. He still didn't know how to feel about Peter. He had the burning anger for the man who endangered his family, but deep in his mind remained the affection he had for his old friend. Meanwhile he noted that he could feel the gravity even he wasn't on the surface of anything. He wasn't floating like those astro people he had see in the muggle TV.

"James?" asked a timid voice. The speaker was shaking with fear. He recognized the voice and felt an urge to protect the speaker. He also felt that he had a lot to apologize to her. Lily had an issue of having panic attacks during fights. It went to such an extend that she had to be bared from all types of combats by her healer. It made him even more guilty than he was before that he unwittingly put her in such a situation. He turned around and his wife's beautiful face appeared in front of him. She had all the signs of a grieving mother, the face of someone who couldn't help their child and had to see them in danger.

"Lily, I am so sorry for everything." James said. He noticed an decrease in the occurrence of her tremors. The logical part of his mind was still trying to decipher the nature of the state in which he was. White void. At least there wasn't a hell fire. Besides Lily would never make it to hell.

"I can't believe my son is going to die. I wish I had a way to go back and save him" said Lily whose tremors had vanished now. Was it the result of the sensory deprivation they has been put through? He couldn't say.

"Your wish might be granted young lady" said a voice, which appeared to come from everywhere and nowhere simultaneously. Still they turned around to make sure that it wasn't from behind. They were too stunted to utter a word. The phantom continued. "I am here to tell you that things aren't going well and I need one of you to go back as a ghost to fix it" The voice was the most expressionless they ever heard, apart from the two times they came face to face with Voldemort. The mere implication of an association between the two send shivers down their spine.

"Why one of us? Why not both of us?" James enquired, due to his newly acquired skepticism. This whole situation is too alien for him and trying to understand the things going on is getting too difficult for him. Why as a ghost? Why not give them the full human ability?

"I have certain limits. You decide, who will go?" But its tone indicated that it was not limits but rather reluctance that made it not help them.

"I think it is better if you go back Lily. I have been making really bad choices lately. Sorry..." James started to weep, tears falling down his cheeks. He was sure that he was the reason this all happened. He raised his hands to wipe the tears away.

Lily seemed to agreed. She had been doing what others said for a while. She should have insisted on keeping Albus as their secret keeper. Guess what, it is time for her to take control of things. For the memory of their son.

"Your movement is restricted to one place. Where would you like to go?"

"Hogwarts." It was an odd choice but Lily didn't know where else to go. They didn't know the current location of the order's safe house or where any order member lived. Order frequently changed everyone's locations to avoid getting into the hands of their enemies. And the last year had made them completely isolated from rest of their friends. Hogwarts is the only place she could stay permanently but still be in contact with people who can make a change.

Lily listened to the sound that seemed like a wounded animal. The voice was awfully familiar. The moment she appeared Hogwarts, she moved to the headmaster's office. but it seems like he had an other visitor. She knew she shouldn't be hearing, a private conversation as it seems. But the crying man has aroused her curiosity. She watched in shock as Snape, her old friend, slump forward in a chair and Dumbledore was standing over him, looking grim. After a moment or two, Snape raised his face, and he looked like a man who had lived a hundred years of misery. Lily was curious to know what made him so sad. She has been keeping track of any news from Severus Snape for a while. Him being admitted as a professor had sparked a conversation in the order. Dumbledore had said that he kept him in order to fool Voldemort into believing that he trusted Snape. He refused to divulge anything else, causing frustration for Mad Eye and Sirius. One of the only things the two agreed on was that Death Eaters are suspicious.

"I thought…you were going…to keep her…safe…"

"She and James put their faith in the wrong person," said Dumbledore. The truth, but Dumbledore didn't know about Peter. She is in for a long talk. She wanted to interrupt but is curious to know more of this conversation. After all her son was probably dead and there is no emergency in talking to Dumbledore She decided that she had stick to listening to the conversation "Rather like you, Severus. Weren't you hoping that Lord Voldemort would spare her?"

Hoping that Voldemort spare her? She didn't knew he could be so stupid. But the Severus she knew didn't have much skill in realizing people's character, so it was plausible.

"Her boy survives," said Dumbledore. Wait? She thought he had died! How? Where none of the most talented of the order could survive, why did her son survive? More importantly, where is he?

With a tiny jerk of the head, Snape seemed to flick off an irksome fly.

"Her son lives. He has her eyes, precisely her eyes. You remember the shape and color of Lily Evans's eyes, I am sure?"

"DON'T!" bellowed Snape. "Gone…dead…"

"Is this remorse, Severus? Why is Dumbledore being a jerk? Lily thought, but quickly decided not to judge Dumbledore without knowing the whole story.

I...wish…I wish I were dead…" That hurt her, she always wanted the best for him and hearing those words from him hurt. But she never expected this much emotion from him on her dying. He had always been aloof and never understanding her, which all she assumed stemmed from the fact that he never liked her. In her mind, he thought of her as a pity case and someone he can mold to fit his emotional needs.

"And what use would that be to anyone?" said Dumbledore coldly. Colder than Lily have ever seen from him. He is being awful to a grieving man. "If you loved Lily Evans, if you truly loved her, then your way forward is clear." He didn't love her, she thought, as he was quick to abandon her friendship to join a group that wanted to get her killed.

Snape seemed to peer through a haze of pain, and Dumbledore's words appeared to take a long time to reach him.

"What – what do you mean?"

"You know how and why she died. Make sure it was not in vain. Help me protect Lily's son." Lily panicked.

"He does not need protection. The Dark Lord has gone – " Gone?

"The Dark Lord will return, and Harry Potter will be in terrible danger when he does." What was going on?

There was a long pause, and slowly Snape regained control of himself, mastered his own breathing. At last he said, "Very well. Very well. But never – never tell, Dumbledore! This must be between us! Swear it! I cannot bear…especially Potter's son…I want your word!" She understood his reluctance to care for James' son, but why is he promising to care for her son? As far as she knew, he never liked her the way she did. He thought of her as a Mudblood. This situation is too confusing for Lily.

"My word, Severus, that I shall never reveal the best of you?" Dumbledore sighed, looking down into Snape's ferocious, anguished face. "If you insist"

Lily decided it was the time to intervene, especially after eavesdropping on them. She was feeling guilty now he was pledging to save her son but she eavesdropped on a conversation he wanted to keep a secret.

"Hi"

The two men jerked their head toward the door, horror and disbelief written on their face.

"Didn't I just say that I agree to everything you want, why do keep you torturing me like?" Severus blow his nose in a handkerchief and started to violently wipe his tears with another tissue from his pocket. "Is this some sick game of yours-"

"I have no idea what this is, Severus. I think Lily may have something to tell us." Dumbledore turned his eyes to Lily, still caught off guard by her appearance.

"Stop.. stop.. STOP" screamed Severus as tears started to drip down his face again. "I need some space, good night, Headmaster" Sobs came out of him as he ran to the door and opened it violently.

And with his black robes flying behind him, he left the room.

"Severus" Lily called out trying to catch his arm but quickly realized that she couldn't hold anything. Her hands just passed through the door as it was slammed shut by the retracting figure

"Lily, I think we need to talk. We can talk with him later. I realize there are some urgent issues to be addressed here." Dumbledore said, looking at the ghost with scrutiny.

Lily Potter came put of the room after sorting everything up. Sirius Black was to be brought to trail, Dumbledore has promised to arrange an defense for him. But he could not guarantee his release as ghosts' words are not accepted in the court. Dumbledore apparently has fought for this fifty years ago but was not his request was not granted. Sirius just had evidence pilled against him in a way that his innocence could not be proven. Her word was the only proof of his innocence, but her words were not submittable in the court. Ghost are considered unreliable witnesses in the court, along with a whole bunch of creatures like elves and globins. Yes it was discriminatory and the apparent reason for this is the observed brain differences. She was surprised at the fact that the ghosts had brains but was not surprised at discrimination. She remembered the times when she and her friend Severus sat together and came up with the flaws in the wizarding justice system, well before he was converted into a Death Eater. She never found another person who she could do this with. Many, even muggleborns, just accepted the status quo. How only one of her friends with a strong sense of justice became a criminal himself was a mystery to her. She always had trusted him to come to the right side, even when his toxicity was so high that she had to drop their friendship altogether.

She could see Sirius being rescued from the prison by an Order member, they were used to illegal stuff after all, but then he would have to live his life as a fugitive until the day he is proven innocent. If he was found, he could be subjected to the Kiss. Harry was to be sent to Petunia's home, which wasn't a decision she didn't like in the least, but she found herself agreeing to the reasoning behind the decision. After all she would take of her son if something happened to Tuney. She expected the same courtesy from her. Her son was going in safe hands.

Next, she had to meet her former friend. She didn't even know what to think of him. She was glad that someone has promised to take care of her son, but could she believe him, was this all a plot to deceive Dumbledore? But his grief felt too real for that to be the case. Lily couldn't get rid of his heart wrenching cries off her mind. The more she thought of it, more she felt guilt for ever doubting him.

Questions whirled in her mind as she floated to the dungeons. She assumed he was there, with him being the head of house of Slytherin. Wasn't he too young for that responsibility, considering the type of kids in the house?

She ran (she can't run but she floated as fast as she could) past many portraits, many of them jolted from their sleep by her. She finally reached her destination. She was not sure about him being there but Slughorn has been there and he is in the position equivalent to Slughorn. So she did an guess about his location. She just floated through the multiwarded door, for the first time being glad for her ghostly form: which allowed her to move into the room.

Snape was there, nestled in his hand was a glass of light brown liquid. Tea? Who drinks tea at this hour? He was sitting behind a brown desk which was cluttered with papers, most of them marked red and by the looks of it, very critically evaluated. The room looked spooky, with jars of ingredients lined on the walls, many of which looked like human intestine. It wasn't as spooky during Slughorn's time even though the room hasn't changed much. It was his presence the made things look more dangerous.

"Came to haunt me? Isn't it enough that I am helping your annoying son? You need to make me feel worse? I loved you and this is what I get" He said, it looked like he was about to cry again.

"You loved me? You joined a group of people who wants to kill me" Lily said, infuriated. She came to say thanks but hearing her son being call annoying triggered a reflex in her. Her son was far from being the most annoying child in the world. It surprised her how her old friend could trigger conflicting emotions within a small range of time, just as he used to do in her childhood. "I loved you and you went to join to a group who wants to kill me."

"Says the woman who married my bully" Snape said, turning into his asshole mode. Her friend can really be aggressive if he wanted to. It was the part of him that never grows.

James had done some unthinkable, but he changed. She had seen him go from a bully to her child's father. She had seen him remorseful over his actions. But she understands how someone who never saw that change could mistake the situation. "I am sorry to hurt you. I have seen James change and that caused me to like him but I understand how you might have felt at the news."

His expression turned to scrutiny and then sorrow "They offered me to complete my studies and establish a career for me. I was disillusioned about their values, I don't know what I was thinking. I am sorry"

"We were teenagers and made some stupid decisions. Hope we can forgive everything and be friends again" Lily said, as she felt the tensions rise. She was hoping for an yes, she wanted to be friends with the man who looks after her son. Moreover she needed her childhood friend back.

"Definitely. So you are a ghost now?"

The tensions dwindled. Lily proceeded to the narrate whole story to him.

"You seemed to have meet the Spirit" He said, seeming to be in deep thought.

"The Spirit? I never heard of it" The way he said it made her think that there was something more sinister to the Spirit than she initially thought.

"I would be surprised if you knew what it was. It is a Dark magic thing, that helps you to surpass the nature's laws, if you offer something to it. The reason Dark Magic is so taboo is that the Spirit is a volatile thing, the more you ask the more it demands from you. Many people have lost their life and soul to it. I wonder who summoned the Sprit for you. Black?"

Sirius Black is the last person to do dark magic, though she cant think of anyone else doing it either. He was the only one with a remote connection to Dark Magic, a family with dark arts mania. Could he perhaps has crossed the line for them? For James? Has Severus done it? If he is willing to pledge his life for her son, and knows Dark Arts so why not? Is he throwing Sirius into this to avoid suspicion?

"I guess we will find out eventually. Take rest, you had a long day" She said, already feeling guilty for being suspicious of him. Their friendship was always like this, he suspecting her of abandoning him and she suspecting him of involving in undesirable actions. In way, fate and circumstance proved them right. But here they are, against everything, once again friends.

"You too"

"I am a fucking ghost, you idiot" She giggled at the stupefied look on her friends face. She needed to find the acquaintance of other ghosts to know the full extent of her abilities. Death was really a new adventure, as Dumbledore once said.

It is unrealistic that Lily and James went without a fight. They are after all the best students of their year. Ok, Hagrid probably was biased but Lily had Snape behind her for years. And I don't think Snape would like an idiot (To put it lightly). And the marauders had some amazing stuff. So I gave them the credit of having a backup.

Lily is going to be shocked at what her sister could do...
