Fear of the Forbidden

Chapter 2

Revelations

Aragorn didn't know what to say. This statement had shocked him somewhat. He had never known Legolas to be scared of anything and yet... He didn't really know how to comfort the trembling elf.

Legolas pulled away, looking at him with endless ageless blue eyes. Deep as the deepest ocean. Tears welled up, and cascaded down porcelain cheeks, making him look, if possible, more beautiful.

Aragorn could see everything in the elf's eyes. The love that had not yet been confessed. He looked away, fearful that the elf might see the same thing in his eyes. For he knew that it was there, no matter how he tried to hide it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few day later, Legolas was much better. Still no one could fathom what had happened to the prince, but he seemed to be returned to normal. Fine enough now that Thranduil had felt that he could return home, leaving his son in Lord Elrond's good care, for Elrond had stated that he wanted Legolas to stay a little longer.

It was late at night when He stole out of his room. Clad in a flowing silver robe, he walked through the gardens, breathing in the sweet smelling air, and drinking in the moonlight.

He stood on the edge of the pond, for a while, staring up at the sky, and watching bemusedly, out of the corner of his eye, the figure who was hiding in the shadows of a nearby tree.

Aragorn watched as Legolas slowly, and gracefully, made his way closer to the pond, before stopping and staring up at the sky. His beautiful flawless skin almost glowed in the moonlight which reflected silvery off his long hair.

Aragorn sighed softly, drinking in the sight of his secret love. He thought that he was well hidden, and that Legolas could not see him until the elf broke the peaceful silence.

"I do so know you're there Aragorn, you can come out now" Legolas called. Aragorn slowly slid out of the shadows, and moved to stand beside his long-time best friend.

"So I underestimated you again" He said quietly, watching a smile play across the prince's lips. Legolas turned to face him again, still smiling.

"Yes you did" Aragorn smiled at that, and placing his hands on either side of the elf's face, he tilted Legolas's head up, and kissed him.

Legolas was too shocked to do anything at first. He could feel Aragorn's lips on his, and he realized just how much he had wanted this.

He slid his hands under Aragorn's shirt, till they rested on Aragorn's muscled chest, feeling the half elf's heart racing beneath his hands, and only vaguely realizing that his own was doing the same.

Aragorn broke away, breathing heavily, as was Legolas. A moment later though, the elf was back in Aragorn's arms. Aragorn ran his hands through the elf's hair, and kissed Legolas again, as the elf twined his arms about his neck.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aragorn's whole world turned over as his lips met Legolas's for the first time. He wondered what on earth had possessed him to kiss the blond prince, but all thoughts were lost in the passion.

This was going against all that he had believed possible for the first part of his life. He had never thought such a thing could be possible for him, future king of Gondor. He knew now that he had been correct about what he had seen in Legolas's eyes.

The Prince of Mirkwood was attracted to him. Was he attracted to Legolas? He couldn't be, for wasn't he supposed to be in love with Arwen? The Evenstar of the people? and yet...

The feel of Legolas's hair, his smooth skin, the way he kissed him, the feel of him in his arms, of his heart beating against his own... It all felt so right. So good....too good.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aragorn pulled away suddenly, looking almost scared. Legolas tilted his head to one side, and stroked the side of Aragorn's face.

"What is wrong Meleth- nin?" He asked softly. Aragorn closed his eyes, as if in pain, and then pushed Legolas away.

"This...this is wrong" He stammered. Legolas recoiled, as if Aragorn had slapped him across the face. With that, Aragorn turned and ran back to his rooms, leaving a stunned Legolas behind.

Legolas fell slowly to his knees, tears cascading down his cheeks. He stared ahead in shock. After that Aragorn denied his love? It was all too much. He closed his eyes against the pain, trying to turn his heart to stone, for he knew that a broken heart was deadly to an elf. But break it did.

He collapsed on the ground crying. He had loved Aragorn for a long time. Before he had become Aragorn son of Arathorn, Legolas had loved him as Estel, Elrond's adopted son.

And as the moon set, and the sun rose, the world woke up, bright and cheerful. Yet one half elf sat on his bed lost in despair, racked by confusion and pain, and a lone elf lay on the grass next to a pond, crying with a broken heart.

Alright, yes I know I'm evil it was short and a bit of a cliffie. It's a bad habit I swear I'm trying to break! Anyway, I'll have the next chapter out soon, and reviews always help give me inspiration to write ^-~
