Disclaimers in Chapter 1

A/N: So I probably should have posted this when I posted Chapter 1 since it continues directly after it. But I didn't. So here it is now. As always let me know what you think!

Chapter 2:

"Ryan!" Anna once again slipped out of the security checkpoint. Ryan gripped her wrist tightly.

Seth wondered what he was missing.

"Anna. Stay," Ryan's plead was more of a command.

"It's too late, she told him, trying not to react to the proximity of him.

"You aren't on the plane yet. Stay. For me," Ryan had never made a request like that before and Anna knew it. Still gripping her wrist, Ryan pulled Anna close and embraced her tightly.

Anna inhaled the scent of Ryan, savored his voice asking her to stay. She took a shuddery breath and looked up at him.

Ryan met her eyes. Emotions swirled in his intense eyes and the ferocity masking fear broke Anna's heart. Those eyes made her shiver.

"Stay," Ryan reached into Anna's back pocket and produced the cell phone it contained with one hand. His other hand still firmly encircled Anna's wrist.

The casualness with which Ryan had retrieved the phone unsettled Seth.

Anna accepted the phone and stepped back to dial.

"Mom, it's me. I want to stay."

Ryan let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding and pulled Anna back into his arms. He nuzzled her neck gently. Anna sighed contentedly and finished the conversation with her mother and twisted to look at Ryan, curiously.

"*This* is where you belong," Ryan said simply and they both knew he wasn't referring just to Newport. Not letting go of Anna's wrist, Ryan turned to leave the airport. "Coming Seth?"

Seth is confused and a little disturbed by whatever is going on with his best friends, but he's so happy that Ryan got through to Anna, got her to stay that the rest is just a minor discomfort.

At the car Seth opens the front door, before realizing Anna might like to have the seat. He bows to his friend and slips into the back of the Range Rover.

Ryan assists Anna into the front seat and buckles her into the car, finally releasing her wrist. He gives her a hard, short kiss before shutting the door and getting into his own seat.

As they drive from the airport Ryan's eyes keep slipping from the road to Anna. He wants her. He wants to brand her as his and never come this close to loosing her again. Anna stares continuously at Ryan. Abruptly Ryan pulls onto the shoulder of the freeway.

Before Seth realizes what is going on Anna is in Ryan's lap and they are kissing passionately. Seth closes his eyes.

Anna's hands are in Ryan's hair, and his hands roam her back, pulling her even closer to his body. Ryan draws amazing pictures in Anna's mouth and she melts into him. Once more Ryan kisses her hard and bites her neck before ceasing. He's gentle as he pulls away from her. Anna rests her head on Ryan's shoulder and watches him watching her. She's never felt as beautiful as she does when Ryan slides his steely blue eyes around the curves of her.

"I've got to run a little errand before we head home," Ryan tells both Seth and Anna. The significance of this is not lost on Anna, though the whole evening has been beyond Seth. Anna slips back into her seat and allows Ryan to buckle her back in. She rests her hand lightly on Ryan's arm as he drives and she's so full of love she thinks that she might burst.

Once they arrive back in Newport it isn't hard to figure out where Ryan might be headed. Anna has sat in this particular parking lot on a night not very long ago, though Ryan doesn't know that.

"I'll be right back," Ryan informs the occupants of the car. He walks up to Teresa's room with no idea of what to say to her. The empty room has saved him from the hollow phrases and threadbare platitudes he would otherwise have had to use.

"She's gone," Ryan offers Anna by way of explaination. Anna accepts it and doesn't press.

Seth has sobered up enough to think Anna's being an idiot. He's happy she is staying, but Anna's never been submissive a day in her life and now she's suddenly turned into Ryan's slave. Seth would say something about it, but he knows that the observation wouldn't be appreciated. He's noticed that the smoldering looks Anna and Ryan had been exchanging have changed. Seth watches as Anna looks at Ryan gently and strokes his jaw lightly. Ryan bows his head and Anna physically turns his head so that he will look at her. Ryan stretches towards Anna and kisses her sweetly, gently in a gesture of comfort. It looks a lot like love.

For two of the three occupants of the car the ride to Anna's was much too short. Dispite the silence, it seemed to Seth that Ryan and Anna were speaking volumns in a language he couldn't understand. As the car pulled up in front of the Stern house, Ryan kissed Anna again. This time the long kiss is soulful and Seth wishes he hadn't seen it. Eventually Anna breaks away and opens the car door.

"Tomorrow?" she asks as she steps out of the car, but the word is a promise. She won't run. Ryan dosen't have to keep a firm grip on her wrist. Anna isn't Marissa.

To Seth's surprise Anna opens the back door and leans in. She kisses his cheek and whispers,

"Thank you." For the life of him Seth can't figure out what for.
