Stars colliding against the dark of the night

They were both stars, in their world.

She was the Ravenclaw's darling: pretty, popular, smart, and the only Female Seeker in the school.

He was the Boy Who Lived: the Gryffindor hero, and the best Seeker at the school.

They were both stars, in their own right.

Then the year of the Triwizard Tournament.

He was a champion; she was the trophy of another champion.

Her boyfriend died in the Third Task, he was with him when he died.

She was supposed to play the part of the grieving lover, but she didn't, at least, not in the public eye. Instead, she went out with him, yes, him, the one who was with Cedric when he died.

The relationship didn't last. They were both too bright, too dazzling of stars to be able to collide and not explode.

They collided, these two stars, at a point where life was dark, dark as the night, and as a result, they exploded.

He realizes this, and sometimes wishes that they were not so bright, that they could be together without diminishing each other's brightness, without exploding.

They were just too bright together.
