As everyone was eating, Rei and Kit saw Yoko chasing a few birds. He caught one, brought it over to Kit, then took down another one shortly after, setting it in front of Rei. Rei looked confused while Kit understood. Yoko was basically saying, "Okay, if you two are a couple, you have my permission and approval. Good choice, mom!"
"What does he mean?" Rei asked quietly as Kit was absorbed in thought.
"Wha? Oh, nothing at all. Nothing to concern yourself with! It's just a little thing, you know, nothing at all, no meaning, just giving us presents!" Kit said nervously.
Rei arched an eyebrow, but did not question further.
Kai, who had been watching them, smirked. He understood the meaning perfectly. It was amusing to him to see a fox give KIT permission to do anything. He would have to hold this over her head. Now, to the problem at hand: How to get Sakura alone for about two minutes when she's not sugar- high. He'd have to work on that later. He saw everyone else coming out, Sora and Sakura grinning broadly.
"So, Kit....What's it like to have your life governed by a fox?" Sakura asked, taunting her.
"Sakura, if you have a death wish, keep going. As for me, I feel like killing something right now and a fight would help keep me calmer, so if you keep going, then you can start running. Oh, and I really don't give a damn what anyone says about my fox. Insult him or what he does, and die," Kit said, the animalistic gleam back in her eyes.
Sakura shut up. She knew that Kit would go at least half-way through her threat. You did NOT want to mess with an angry Kit. Or a Kit that has a head-ache, or is being over-possessive of her fox again.
Kit grinned evilly and walked back inside the bus, Rei right behind her. Everyone else followed, Sakura and Kai being last.
~ After they got to the hotel they were staying at for the tournament...~
After everyone got their rooms, same pairings as last time, Rei and Kit went out to talk. Kai took his opportunity and went into Kit's and Sakura's room. He found Sakura on her bed, seemingly asleep.
"Yes?" Sakura asked, cracking an eye open. Wordlessly, Kai crossed to her bed and sat down on it next to her. Sakura sat up and looked at Kai. "Kai, what on earth--?"
Kai cut her off by giving her a quick kiss. It lasted about 5 seconds, then Kai broke away, looking off to the side and blushing furiously. Sakura sighed contentedly, and set her head on his chest, startling him slightly. Kai looked down and saw Sakura's head on his chest. He put his head on hers and they stayed like that until Kit and Rei came back.
Rei and Kit had talked about things, and had given each other a brief kiss before they parted to go to their separate doors. Both had blushed a bit, but had smiled softly when they found their teammates sound asleep on their respective beds. Rei and Kit also fell asleep soon after, and that was that.
The next morning, everyone went down to get some breakfast and then went to the place the tournament was being held. It wasn't anything major, just a competition where the finalists got to battle the BladeBreakers. That was all and so they were allowed to arrive late.
It wasn't very much of a challenge. The only thing that happened was that one of the kids had a lot of spunk and had gotten to about halfway to beating Max, then got knocked out of the ring.
They decided to stay in town for a few days, seeing as there was a great beach close to the hotel and there was no hurry to get back home.
Tyson and Kit practiced sword techniques. Tyson lost every single time, and Kit was going regular speed; no speeding up to where the normal human eye can't follow, nothing. Everyone concluded that Kit was just better than Tyson.
Later, they all went swimming, well, most of them did. Kit didn't go in the water, just sat around, reading her book, and Rei sat around, watching everyone else. Suddenly, a big bucket of water was splashed all over Rei. He sat up, spluttering.
Tyson and Max were laughing hard, also holding the bucket that had held the water that was now dripping off Rei. They were going to do the same thing to Kit, but Kit closed her book and tripped them, causing them both to fall and spray the water all over themselves and more over Rei.
Kit smirked as she saw Rei dripping wet. "I always wondered what a wet cat looks like."
Rei glared. "And I've always wondered what a wet fox looks like!" Rei splashed water all over Kit, who spluttered and managed to save her book.
"You little---..." Kit yelled, getting up, abandoning her book, and chasing Rei all over the place, yelling things like "Damn cat!" and "Get back here, you little cheater!"
All in all, it was a very fun day, especially for Rei, since he had managed to get Kit wet and got away with it. He had eventually called for Kai, who had tackled Kit and pinned her to the sand for a full 20 minutes before Kit didn't show any signs of wanting to kill Rei or Kai. They all went to bed, not knowing that something, or someone, was planning something bad for them.
