CH.1- The Kiss
It was a warm spring morning, and Khaley was having a hard time waking up. She just couldn't seem to keep her almond eyes open. She was having those typical 'I-don't-want-to-wake-up' mornings. She was so tired from her 18th birthday celebration the night before. As her alarm clock beeped, Khaley smashed the snooze button and tried to open her eyes.
"Aaaah! Mondays! I hate Mondays!" Khaley screamed.
"Riley Khammany come down here this instant! You don't want to be late today!" said Mrs. Andrews.
As Khaley mimicked her mother, she went to her closet and got her clothes. She got dressed in dark blue jeans, and a white t-shirt that said, "Back off!" She slipped on her blue chucks as she ran down to the kitchen.
Khaley's mom was screaming her name again, "Riley hurry!"
"Yes coming!!!" Khaley replied.
Khaley ate her light breakfast, and then headed out to her car; a classic black Mustang coupe. Khaley got to school before the last bell to first period rang. She didn't want to be late on the day they announce who the school's valedictorian was. She and all her friends knew it; it just had to be her, and it was.
Everyone loved Khaley, but the one that loved her most was her best friend forever and eternally, Utt. As she parked her car in the garage, she wondered where her friend could have gone. She hasn't seen him the whole day, and missed seeing his charming face. Khaley came in from the garage door; and as she came through it, she was surprised to see Utt holding a light brown collie puppy in his arms.
"Hey Khal, this is for you…,"said Utt, as he handed his late birthday present to Khaley.
"Aww…thanks Utt!! He's sooo adorable!!" replied Khaley as she smiled in joy, "What should we name him?"
"He's yours, so you name him." Utt smiled.
"Well, as the owner, I'm granting you part ownership of this sweet babe."
"Okay, you pick and I'll approve."
"Okay then, let's see," Khaley's brown eyes sparkled as she hugged the puppy and named him, "Ashitaka."

Graduation day came. Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Panichkul joined efforts to make a grand graduation party for Khaley and Utt.
Two months passed and it was almost time for both Khaley and Utt to leave for college. For the first time in their entire lives, they were parting from each other. Going to two different universities, both were afraid of changes. Then before they knew it, they were only a day away from the future.
Utt looked at his hard covered yearbook before he went to sleep, he opened it, and inside it read in big red letters, "I love you forever and eternally! I don't need to write so much in here, coz you already know whatever's in my mind. [= )], Khal." Utt couldn't sleep and all he thought about was his summer days. Cruising around with Khaley, joking around with Khaley, swimming in the hot summer days with her, and just simply hanging out, he already missed her. Utt sat up on his bed, threw off his navy blue sheets on the floor. It was a hot summer night, and he had tons of thoughts in his head. He looked around and tried to focus on just one thing, Khaley.
Khaley, who was also awake, stared at the glow-in-the-dark-stars on her ceiling. She just couldn't sleep, it was either out of anxiety or insomnia. She got up and went into her bathroom. She looked in the mirror and tied up her long black silky hair that was covering her face. She sat in the bathroom; constantly wetting her hand towel with cold water and putting it over her face. She finally felt sleepy, until her phone rang.
Utt was on the other line, "Khal?"
"Yeah?" she answered in a sleepy tone.
"Whatcha up to?," Utt asked cheerfully.
"Trying to sleep, it's so hot…I've been hanging out in my bathroom for a while now."
Utt chuckled, "Why don't we go swimming in your pool, you can't sleep, I can't sleep, it's hot…and so on.... So what do you say huh?"
"It's eleven-," Khaley looked at her clock, "forty five…"
Khaley was also hot and couldn't sleep so she decided that it was a great idea to get wet and then head on to bed.
"Be there in five minutes." Khaley hung up and put on a black two-pieced bathing suit. She grabbed her beach towel out of her closet and ran out to her pool.
Utt came through the back gate. He wore blue shorts and black sandals.
"You're late, I said be here in five minutes, and now...haha you can't swim in MY pool!" Khaley teased, put her hands on her hips and then smirked at Utt.
Utt just snickered, threw his gray towel on the ground, and lightly tackled Khaley into the pool. They swam for hours, they had lost track of time and totally forgot that just several hours from then was their departure.
Khaley headed inside her house and checked the time.
It was three o'clock sharp.
"I think we should try to get some sleep now, it's three sharp. Besides, you don't want me to drown and die from sleepiness, right?" Khaley stooped down by the pool.
"Well you won't drown coz I'll save you." Utt grabbed Khaley and pulled her into the pool.
"I know its way late, but think about it, it's just a few hours from now that you'll be gone from my arms." Utt took hold of Khaley and hugged her.
She looked at him weirdly and was curious why he was acting as if it was the end of the world. She got loose from his grasp and went under water. He followed her, and again she looked at him with curiosity filling her head. They stood in the shallow end of the pool, with the clear water at their necks. He held her hands and she looked at his face. His entrancing hazel-greenish eyes, his perfect nose, his luscious lips, Khaley was falling into a deep trance. She touched his smooth cheek and kissed his succulent lips. He kissed her back, Khaley opened her eyes, let go of Utt and got out of the pool.
Khaley grabbed her towel, and covered herself with it.
"You better go," Khaley paused and looked back at Utt, "You'll need sleep before sunrise."
Utt sat alone on the white tiled stairs of the pool and thought about what just happened. At first, he was at ease at the thought that she kissed him, then he became confused why she did, and he wished it had never happened. He was scared. He thought about things to say to Khaley in the morning, how to react with the whole kissing incident, he thought about her… and then his head went blank.
