Ed watched him searching franticly, realizing Lennie had misplaced his notebook.
Anita was actually enjoying Lennie's panic, when a woman entered the squad room.
She'd be about 5'4" without her stilettos heels. She had a dancer's legs and body, a heart-shaped face and strawberry blond hair. She wasn't young, yet all the men in the squad enviously watched her walk up to Lennie.
"I found this on the floor this morning, thought you might need it," she purred as she handed him the notebook. She kissed him possessively and then quickly and quietly turned and left. Every man in the squad watched her retreating form until they couldn't see her any longer.
"Who was that?" Ed Green asked his partner.
"You remember my telling you I took a taxi to the station house the other morning?" Lennie asked Ed.
"Yeah I remember." Ed replied, not quite understanding why Lennie had answered his question with a question.
"She's the reason I took a taxi." Lennie answered with a satisfied smile.
