Dear Readers,
I just wanted to say I know this is not my best poetry. The meter is totally inconsistent, for example. But I found this in my file of poems and I thought some of you might enjoy it. I get parts of it stuck in my head randomly -- without realizing where they come from -- and really like them. So, maybe someone somewhere will also find this poem pleasing, if not structurally perfect.
If you do like it and want to read more, or if you would prefer the re-written version, check out THE CALL OF THE MOOR. I wrote it second, after disliking the meter of this one.

Frodo's Farewell
~Frodo's farewell to Sam.~
by Vané Alasse

How I wept, my friend,
When I bid you farewell.
The misty spray
Enclosed me in its spell.

My tears were jewels
Silently shimmering
Echoing memories
Of devotion glimmering.

But cry no more
My pain is far behind me.
I left it on the shore
Across the golden sea.

My dearest friend
Contented won't you be
'Til you ride o'er the waves
At last forever free?
