Her Spirit
A Song Fic By Insane-SparklingPoet

Disclaimer: I don't own Christian, Satine's spirit, or any Moulin Rouge
related items; they belong to Baz. I don't own Evanescence's song "My
Immortal" either. A/N: Hi peoples! This is just another lame song fic I came up with. I would like to dedicate this to Forkie or GollumRox because she gave me the thumbs
up to do this! Thanks Forkie!

August 13, 1900

Christian gulped down the last of his Absinthe, as he stood alone in his dark apartment. As he went to take another drink he realized that there was none left and he became frustrated. In his anger he flung the empty bottle at the wall. "Damn life!" he screamed as he slumped against the wall. He sank lower and lower until he was hugging his knees on the floor, crying sobs that racked his body. Suddenly a woman's laugh rang in his ears. "Stop it! Leave me alone! Make her go away!" he yelled pressing his hands over his ears. But he could still hear her. Her haunting laugh. Just then a figure appeared in front of him. It was she! She looked as beautiful as ever in her Hindu wedding dress. Then Christian saw that blood covered the front of the dress. He closed his eyes. He didn't want to see her. "Leave me alone Satine! Please!" he cried, tears streaming down his face. He opened his eyes but she was still there. He quickly shut his eyes again and gently began to rock back and forth. Her laughter was still ringing in his ears. Christian then opened his mouth and softly began to sing.

"I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have leave
I wish that you would just leave
Because your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase,"

Christian peeked his eyes open. Satine was slowly fading away. Even with a bloodstained dress, Satine still beautiful. Christian couldn't help but remembering her in all her glory. The laughter brought Christian back from his dream world. He again began to sing but more forcefully.

"When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you screamed I'd fight away all of your fears
And I've held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me

You used to captivate me
With your resonating light
But now I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just to much that time can not erase,"

It was true. Satine's memory was driving him to the point of insanity. The laughter was dying down and Satine's image was fading to the point of a blur. Christian was growing dreary probably because of the Absinthe. So now, as he sang the last two verses of the song, he sang much quieter.

"When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you screamed I'd fight away all of your fears
And I've held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
And though you're still with me
I've been alone all along,"

Christian slowly ended his song as the laughter and image disappeared. He was glad that the memories had finally left him in peace but he knew they would be back to remind him of all his pain. Christian's eyes began to droop and slowly he fell asleep. Dreams of pain will come to him again but know our sad, little poet will sleep.
