This is my favorite sad song in the world, treat it with respect. The man characters die.

The characters are not mine.

*************

Inuyasha smiled at Kagome as he looked at her. But then she shook her head.

It shattered his world.

//She put him out like the burning end of a midnight cigarette.

She broke his heart: He spent his whole life trying to forget. //

Naraku attacked them, he drew tetsuaiga and swung at his wooden tentacles. Tears streaming down his face.

//We watched him drink his pain away, a little at a time,

But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind, //

A tentacle stabbed through him, and he cried out in pain. His strength leaving him.

//Until the night:

He put the bottle to his head and pulled the trigger.

And finally drank away her memory. //

A light blue light shone before him, and the tentacle was gone.

//Life is short, but this time it was bigger,

Than the strength he had to get up off his knees. //

With his last amount of strength, he whispered quietly to her.

//We found him with his face down in the pillow,

With a note that said: "I'll love her till I die."//

"I love you"

//And when we buried him beneath the willow,

The angels sang a whiskey lullaby. //

Kagome screamed his name. She shot another arrow into Naraku's form. Finally, they had killed him.

//The room was full but nobody knew how much she blamed herself.

For years and years, she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath. //

"It's not your fault. He would have died anyway." Sango said.

'But it's my fault' Kagome still thought inside. 'If i had said yes, then he would not have died.'

//She finally drank away her pain, a little at a time,

But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind. //

Kagome was on the cliff where they would talk privately, Holding a scrap of picture in her hand, and payer beads in the other, she stood, swaying with the wind.

//Until the night:

She put the bottle to her head and pulled the trigger.

And finally drank away his memory. //

She felt the wind making her raven tresses flow out behind her as she fell, smiling in peace.

//Life is short, but this time it was bigger,

Than the strength she had to get up off her knees. //

Kagome never hit the ground, in her mind, but she was saved by Inuyasha who was waiting.

//We found her with her face down in the pillow,

Clinging to his picture for dear life. //

Sango sighed as she stood over the still form of Kagome, Inuyasha's picture in her hand. A slight smile played on her face, as if she knew a private joke that the others didn't share.

Miroku laid his hand on her shoulder as he held out a scrap of paper.

//We laid her next to him beneath the willow,

While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby. //

"They would have wanted it this way." Miroku said, more to himself, as they scattered the mingled remains of Kagome and Inuyasha around the god tree.

The letter floated down the well with a soft twirl to land on the bottom, a soft hand had witten the leters on the paper as they read. "Yes."

A young black haired girl with blue eyes stood at the mouth of their family shrine. suddenly her cat, Buyo, nocked her down into the well.
