A 5 year-old Maria Fanell laid on her back lazily on a hot summer day. Her pigtails spread out across the floor.

It's just too borin' here... she thought. I wonder where...

Her thoughts were cut short... someone was knocking at the door.

The door knocked. Her mom got up to answer it.

"Judi-sama?" A little boy's voice came from the door. "Is Maria-chan able to play?"

Maria's mother looked at the little boy.

"Of course she can.... But I don't know if she wants to play with you." She had said teasingly.

By this time Maria had gotten up and now stood in the hall. Her face lit up when she saw the little boy and ran to greet him.

"Yoh-san!!" she yelled happily. "Where were you?"

"Training...." Yoh paused and made a face. "I just got done..."

"Wanna go collect rocks by the stream?" She asked hopefully. She had wanted to go down there earlier, but her mother wouldn't let her.

"Yeah! Let's go!" Yoh jumped into the air.

"Be careful, you two. Don't get all wet." Maria's mother yelled after them.

They disappeared into the trees.
