The Military

The Kimeric military is a massive organisation, almost all of the Planetbound troops are of the resurrected, the resurrected personalities of ancient troopers (from over 2 millenniums ago) and make up over 20,000,000 members of the Kimeric military, and their on planet and drop ship pilots. Equipped with the latest technology the Pre-Searchers can create from the mysteries of plasma and magnets the Resurrected forces of the planet bound have met none who can match their technological prowess but have met matches for their armour technologies.

The Multarias are the Kimeric's worst enemies, since their first conflicts on Kimera Primus in the pre Federation days with sword and spear Multarias were the enemies of the Kimerics, they preferred Kimeric flesh to that of Tirenids and the Kimerics learned to hate those multi-limbed creatures that had been sown across the systems by their unknown fathers. Throughout the Imperia's 7 Millenniums of existence there have been 3 Cleansings of the Multarias from Kimeric worlds, the first with explosive projectile weapons of crude design, the second with magnetic, rail weaponry, against Multarias who now had a basic grasp of spacecraft and had terrifying weaponry that didn't kill, but shredded Kimeric troops and left them dying on the floor. Now the Kimeric Stellar Imperia is in the third cleansing of Multarias from Kimeric worlds, harnessing the power of plasma, the forces of the Kimeric Planet bound scour the presence of the genetically modified enemy from the worlds of the Imperia.

The Resurrected are, essentially, a robotic Kimeric skeleton, with a personality as the driving intelligence behind that machine. Over the skeleton is a flesh body, identical to that of the volunteer who's personality is being used, that is assembled from the DNA encoding of the volunteer trooper and, after many years, bone will usually grow around the skeleton, adding extra armour to the main cybernetics. The Resurrected have no blood per-say but instead have an army of Nanobots held within a preservative fluid which do the same job more efficiently and are produced and recycled in the machinery located where the heart once was. When the Nanobots leave the body via wounds, the fluid evaporates and the Nanobots rapidly oxidise with the air around them, turning a light blue colour, so Kimeric Resurrected are often said to have blue blood.

The Planetbound are the Imperia's ground troops and aircraft pilots. The troops are arraigned into Duoas, each with 50 companies of 15 soldiers (Survival 13 is an exception to this, they only have the 13th companies but each company is named after the Duoa they came from e.g. Blue Scythe 13th, and all the Duoas except Black Skulls have no 13th company). Each Company is divided into two teams of 7 with team leaders (6 troops + one leader = a team) and a company commander. Sometimes two companies will be joined into one squad of 30 troops and one battle-standard bearer, these groups are as high a grouping of troops that Kimerics place together as one unit because, although being a scientific race, they believe in The Fates, the all powerful powers that govern the universe and keep the wheel of time moving and believe that 31 is the biggest grouping that can be sustained without angering The Fates. Bigger numbers were tried but those groups met with extreme misfortune.

The Duoas are separated by their ways of conforming to the honour code of the Kimeric military, Duoas such as the Imperia's Blade Duoa conform strictly to the code and will not deviate from it an inch. Compare that to the Duoa at the opposite end of the scale, the Black Skull Duoa. They conform so loosely to the honour code that they are seen to some to have no honour at all, although, in respect, it is understandable, the Black Skull Duoa lost three Squads aboard space station Skull of Fury when a Multaria desecration squad attacked the station, the troopers were caught unawares and unarmed as 20 berserk shred troops smashed their asteroids, containing breaching pods, into the station. A call for help went out from the station but when the Black Skull starship Frenzied Blood-wrath reached the station two Quarts and three Sectorans later, they found all aboard dead or dying, almost all had had limbs and bodies ripped apart and had then been stapled to the bulkheads by ripper shards. It was this act that pushed the Black Skulls over the edge and began their personal blood feud with the Multarias; now no Black Skull is ever seen without his weapon and armour.

The Spacebourn are the other faction of the military, they are the star pilots, guiding the immense ships of the Imperia through the systems, delivering Planetbound to their destinations or fighting off pirate craft in starstrike fighters. The Spacebourn used a different cybernetic system to the Planetbound and therefore did not become sterile as the Planetbound did but bred aboard their ships a different class of Kimeric, one used to the systems of the star ships, and more suited to the Spacebourn lifestyle and weapon design than those of the Planetbound. The Spacebourn have heavily augmented torsos and brains but not as many cybernetic systems in their legs, and they also had the Nanobots instead of blood. Although there are not as many as there are in the forces of the Planetbound, there are quite a few resurrected within the ranks of the Spacebourn due to the training they go through. Resurrected training consists of 2 years in the army; one of those heavy weapons, 2 years in the air force, one of those piloting drop ships, and one year of their choice, one of the choices is Spacebourn service, after which, if they wish to continue Spacebourn training then the personality in the resurrected is transferred to a Spacebourn body (robotic and particalised of course) and their training is continued from there. Unlike the Planetbound, the Spacebourn are organised by ships and fleets, not Duoas. 157 Spacebourn is the minimum number of Spacebourn required to run a ship, which excludes fighter pilots. The fighter pilots of the Spacebourn can plug themselves into the fighter and give themselves increased awareness of the ship and it's immediate surroundings, this increases their reaction times and performance but has the downside that the pilot 'feels' the fighters damage and if one of the wings gets severed then the pilot experiences a feeling akin to pain as the feedback from that part of the fighter is suddenly cut off.

Both the Spacebourn and the Planetbound use the same technology of pulse plasma but the design of their weapons differs; the Planetbound have chunky, heavy, reliable weapons that serve well as ranged and melee weapons, the Spacebourn, on the other hand, use curving shapes and flowing conduits to create aesthetically pleasing, yet effective, weapons.
