It was over, the pain and suffering was over. Kagome had dreaded this moment for three years. She walked over to Inuyasha and gave him the Shikon-no-Tama. She walked slowly towards her friends. He looked down and a sad smile played on his lips. He turned and looked at the undead miko walking towards him. Kagome turned and watched all that was happening. He looked in between the two girls, then at the jewel. He made his wish on it, not knowing who it would hurt the most. As the light faded and he opened his eyes, Kagome screamed and clutched her chest. Inuyasha ran to her, oblivious to the light that surrounded Kikyou. Kagome heard the jewel tell her the wish he had made." In order to fulfill his wish your soul needs to go to Kikyou." it said. She was on her knees clutching her chest over her heart. The pain was agonizing and intensifying ever second. Inuyasha was asking her what was wrong and the others were asking her the same as well.
All the while her heart was being ripped apart by the soul trying to escape.
" Your.. 'gasp' ...wish, Inuyasha needs my soul...to be fulfilled.." she said. As she said it she started to bleed from her heart as part of her soul escaped through her fingers. It tore her chest open and she clutched her chest tighter to keep from letting the others see the gaping hole. It flew to Kikyou who was still glowing. Kagome was bleeding all down her shirt as the dark liquid leaked through her fingers. Shippo started to cry and Sango as well. Inuyasha couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Sango, I want you to adopt Shippo." she said while her breathing got labored and she motioned for Sango to come closer. Sango went closer to her and Kagome told her to get together with Miroku and tell him how she felt towards him. Kagome looked at Miroku who nodded at her and she smiled at him. She kissed Shippo and Sango took him into her arms. Kagome rose to her feet startling Inuyasha and sat against a tree, her hand never leaving its position over her heart.
She looked at Inuyasha and said,
"Inuyasha I have to tell you my last wishes. I want you to be happy with Kikyou. Also if you can I want to be buried in this time, under the God tree." she sighed and continued, "I love you, Inuyasha and you threw that away. I want you to tell my mom that the one who said he would always protect me, was the one to kill me in the end." She knew her words had hurt but she needed to let him know what she felt. Inuyasha was silently crying as he and the others listened to her words. He wanted to say something, but found no words.
"Inuyasha I could never hate you, yet I feel as though I should. I have one more thing to say. You may have gained a lover, but you have lost a friend. Good bye my friends. I'll love you all forever." With all she wanted to say out in the open and the pain getting worse, she let her hand fall. Revealing her slowly beating and bleeding heart and the soul that flew from it. When it flew from her heart, it stopped and her eyes glazed over. Kikyou was alive again, but she was sleeping.
Sango was crying harder now and Miroku hugged her gently, crying along with her, but silently. The little kit had fallen asleep crying, Kilala wept silently as well offering her master comfort. Inuyasha sank to his knees, just now realizing what he had done.
