In our last installmentSerenity Wheeler, while searching for a gift to thank Seto Kaiba for saving her from the school bully, discovered he was looking for some rare Duel Monsters cards but was having difficulty finding them. She then bought the last three packs of cards that they were sold in & took them home. We left off with her opening the last pack after the first two were failures. As she opened this pack, she prayed that the cards would be in this pack.
Serenity's P.O.V.
Young Serenity Wheeler held her breath as she reached inside this last pack of cards. She slowly pulled them out & then looked them over. As she came to the rare cards she saw that,…
Later that day
Seto's P.O.V.
What a day. thought Seto Kaiba as his limo took him home. He'd had nothing but a lot of paperwork that took up all of his time when he should have been working not only on his newest version of the duel disk system, but he should also be looking for those new cards. But, that was the life of the young executive. Sometimes he couldn't do what he wanted.
As his limo pulled up to his front gate, the guard posted there stopped the car. Wondering why Seto rolled down his window.
"Is something wrong?" asked Seto curious.
"Sir…" said the guard, Steve, Seto thought remembering his name. "…a young girl was just here & asked me to make sure you got this."
"Got what?" asked Seto.
"This envelope." Steve said handing it to his employer.
"I see." Seto said accepting it. "Thank you."
"Your welcome sir." Steve said as he opened the gate & the limo drove up to the front door.
Another love letter? thought Seto as the driver pulled up to the front door of the mansion. He got about twenty of these a day, but this was the first time one came to his front gate.
He was just about to think about throwing it away like all the others, when he detected the smell of apples & cinnamon on the envelope. There was something familiar about that scent. He decided to open it & see whom it was from.
He went inside to his kitchen, after hanging up his trench coat & proceeded to open it revealing a piece of paper & an even smaller envelope. He looked at the letter & saw it was from the mutts sister. It read as follows;
"Dear Mr. Kaiba,
I want to thank you again for helping me this afternoon.
It was very kind of you to do so, knowing you don't like my brother.
I got you this gift to thank you for your help. I hope you will like it.
Yours Sincerely,
Serenity Wheeler"
So, Serenity got me a present did she? thought Seto with a chuckle as he opened the second envelope. Wonder what it is?
Seto pulled two duel monsters cards from the second envelope & his eyes bugged open in typical anime fashion. In his hand was the Blue-Eyes Warrior Woman card he'd been looking for. The picture of the card was of a small girl with light brown hair down to her shoulders with penetrating blue eyes. She wore a white battle armor & it had a cape which resembled the wings of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon's wings. In her hands was a sword with a blade made of what looked like white lightning. It's attack & defense stated 2550/2000. It also had an effect that allowed it to summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from any nearby deck.
Seto looked at the other card & saw it was a fusion/effect monster called the Blue-Eyes Warrior Woman Knight. It's attack & defense stated 4000/3000. It's effects were that it gained 1000 attack points for every Blue-Eyes White Dragon in the on the field or in the card graveyard, it couldn't be killed by monster effects, spells, or traps & finally for the price of 2000 life points it could attack your opponent directly. The picture showed the Warrior Woman riding on the back of a Blue-Eyes like a knight riding off into battle on a mighty steed.
"What the hell!?!" Seto exclaimed in shock. Where had she gotten these? Why would she give them to him? She could have given them to her brother & then Wheeler could have crushed him in their next duel. Why would she give him the very card which could make him once again the best duelist in the world. No one would beat him with these in his deck.
I have to know why? thought Seto as he found his student handbook, complete with the phone numbers of all the student in Furikan High. He quickly found Serenity's number & dialed it.
Serenity's P.O.V.
"Ahhhhhh." Serenity sighed as she slipped into her bubble bath.
After the hard day she'd had she felt she deserved it. As she let herself relax she wondered if Seto would like the cards. She'd nearly had a heart attack when she saw they were in the pack & she'd wasted no time getting Seto's address & getting there. While she'd been upset that the guard wouldn't let in to the house, she was happy when he promised her that Seto would get it.
As she finally began to relax, the phone rang. Since Serenity was the only one home at this moment, she'd brought the handheld phone in the bathroom with her. She picked it up from the clothes hamper near the tub & hit the talk button.
"Hello, Wheeler residence." She said politely.
"May I please speak with Serenity Wheeler please?" said a deep voice on the other side of the phone.
"Speaking. Who is this?" she asked wondering who would be calling her.
"This is Seto Kaiba." The voice said making Serenity sit up in shock.
"K...K...Kaiba!?!" she exclaimed. "H…How'd you get my number?"
"The student directory." Kaiba responded.
"Oh yeah." Serenity said. "So, how can I help you?"
"I'd like to know why you gave me these cards?"
"Those? I heard you were looking for them."
"But why would you give them to me?" asked Kaiba sounding confused. "Your brother could utterly defeat me with them."
"I gave them too you because you helped me." Serenity said blushing. She'd really gave them to him so he'd notice her.
"I see." Kaiba said thinking about that. "I guess I owe you thanks then."
"Don't worry about it."
"I still feel I should thank you properly." Kaiba said.
"Well, what do you suggest?" asked Serenity as she splashed some water by accident.
"What was that?"
"Nothing…" said Serenity. "…you just caught me in the bath is all."
Seto's P.O.V.
In the bath!?!?! thought Seto as he blushed. She's talking to me on the phone in the bathtub!?!
Seto's mind was then filled with the thoughts of Serenity as naked as the day she was born. He was about to imagine himself in that picture when her voice broke his chain of thought.
"Kaiba, are you still there?" said her sweet voice.
"Uh, yeah." Seto said banishing thoughts of her naked from his mind, & failing miserably. "Yeah, I'm still here."
"Oh good." Serenity said. "I thought we got disconnected Kaiba."
"No, we weren't." said Seto who thought he was going insane, because of the next words that came out of his mouth.
"Serenity, are you doing anything tomorrow night?"
"No, I don't think so." She said after a long pause.
"Well, would you like to, maybe, go out tomorrow? With me that is?"
"With you? Are you asking me on a date?"
"Well, yeah." Seto said upset that she sounded like she wasn't interested. "If you don't want to,…"
"NOOOOO!" said Serenity's voice. "I mean, yes, I'd love to go out with you!"
"You would!?!" said Seto not believing what he'd heard. She said yes!!!
"Yes, I'd be honored to go out with you Kaiba."
"Seto." He responded. "Call me Seto."
"Okay, Seto." Serenity said as Seto decided he loved the way his name sounded on her lips.
"So, how's seven o'clock sound?" asked Seto.
"Seven's good." She said.
"Very well then." Seto said. "I'll see you tomorrow then. Goodnight."
"Night Seto." She said as he hung up the phone.
"SHE SAID YES!!!" Seto screamed. He'd taken a chance & she'd said yes! Now that left only on thing to do. Where was he going to take her!?!
Serenity's P.O.V.
"He asked me out!" said Serenity looking at the phone in shock after he hung up.
"HE ASKED ME OUT!!!!" screamed Serenity excited. This was better then she could have hoped for. Seto Kaiba, the man she was in love with, actually asked her out on a date! She leapt from the tub dancing for joy until she realized one thing.
"What am I gonna wear???" she said in a panic as she drained & cleaned the tub. Then, after putting on her bathrobe, she ran to her room & looked through her closet. She had nothing.
I have only one hope! thought Serenity as she grabbed her address book & found the number of the one person who could help her.
The name read, Mia Valentine.
