"Penelope!" Penelope woke up by Jack whispering. "'S nearly morning, luv... Ye better go and sleep in yer room, before yer father finds ye 'ere... Besides yer might catch a cold." He said. Penelope looked out the window. Even though it was still dark, she knew it was morning.
After a moment she got up. "*yawn* Okay, Captain. I'll be a good little girl and do what you say." She smiled and went upstairs into her room.
Both Jack and Penelope didn't want the Governer throwing a psych first thing in the morning. They didn't want Elizabeth to be worried either. Jack sank back into the couch (did they have couches back then??) and yawned. 'Penelope is a pretty one. She's different from the others...' He thought, then faded away into a sleep.
Will woke up earlier than Elizabeth as usual, to go out to the Blacksmith (He owns it now...). He was startled when he heard a grump. "What the...?" He turned and saw Jack asleep lying down on the sofa. 'Oh, it's just Jack... He must have been quite tired. Well, I best be off... Michael (Will's assitant) would be already there by now!' Will rushed out.
After a couple of minutes Elizabeth came out of her bedroom with her nightgown on. She yawned and had a stretch, then saw Jack. "Oh my... Jack! Wake up now. You'll catch a cold!" Elizabeth shook Jack slightly.
He stirred and woke up. "Where's Will?" Was his first response. Then he saw Elizabeth's lexpression. "Oh, I mean, g' mornin', luv!" He laughed and got up getting ready to go out.
"He's already gone to the Blacksmith's... Now, where do you think you're going, Jack?" Elizabeth blocked him from the front door.
Jack looked at her in an obvious sort of way. "I'm off ter see how the lad is doin'. Now would ya mind movin' outta the way?" He said as politely as possible.
"But you're a pirate!" She said.
Jack stopped in front of her and sighed. "Yes, I know luv." He cleared his throat. "And your point exactly?"
"My point is pirates are forbidden in Port Royal! If you get caught, you'll get hung... Or as you pirates put it, you'll be gone to Davy Jone's lockers!" She pointed out clearly.
Jack sighed again. "Please, Elizabeth... Move! I wont get caught, after all I'm Captain Jack Sparrow!" He managed a chuckle. "Now I'm just goin' ter see Will. Anyway what do ye expect me ter do all day 'ere? Chatter and have little sips o' tea with ye?" He asked sarcastically. "I think not... So I best be goin'. Savvy?"
And before Elizabeth could say or do anything, Jack zoomed past her and had gone out the door. When Elizabeth was just about to go after him, Penelope came down the stairs "Let him be, Elizabeth..." Penelope told Elizabeth. "He wont get caught. He's just... too swift, like a real sparrow." She said. "He's cunning and quick." She gave her sister a comforting smile.
"So is his love for woman." Elizabeth said aloud her thoughts.
Her sister gave her a questioning look. "What do you mean?"
"Nothing, Penelope... Forget what I said. I was talking absolutley rubbish!" Elizabeth answered as she tried to shrug the subject off.
Penelope didn't say anything. Elizabeth was trying to hide something of Jack. She couldn't wait for Jack to come back... So she didn't.
She went back up to her room and got changed into a silky light-blue dress (with some help.) She brushed her hair and tied it into a loose but clean bun. When she came back downstairs Elizabeth was knitting on a chair. Penelope was about to go out when Elizabeth noticed her.
"Penelope, you look lovely! Are you going out somewhere?" She asked curiously.
Penelope hesitated. "I... er..." Then she saw the bread basket, from yesterday, on the shelf. "I'm going out to get some more bread... We've run out already!" She lied as she took the basket that was filled with bread.
"Why don't you get Katherine to do that? She's going to go out at late afternoon..." Elizabeth suggested without looking up.
Her sister hesitated again. "I think I'll go for a breeze. It's a really beautiful day! I'll be back soon." And with that she hurried out. Penelope felt a little guilty about lying to her sister. 'Well I guess it's not fully a lie... It is a nice sunny day, and I will have to buy more bread... After I share it with Jack.' She smiled at her thoughts as she headed to the Blacksmiths. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meanwhile at the Blacksmith's, Jack staggered in giving Will, and his assistant a jump. "Jack?" Will squinted. "What in the bloody hell are you doing here? You might have gotten caught by Norrington's people!" He yelled quietly so Michael didn't hear.
Jack blinked at Will. "Norrington's people? And who may they be?" He asked confused.
"Norrington sent people a few days ago to search for any pirates..." Will said. "Someone rumered that they saw a pirate ship sail away from Port Royal's dock." He broke off as he went back to his sword-making.
"What sort of ship?" Jack asked as he slowly sat down on a chair nearby. He took a bottle of rum from somewhere and took a swig. "Was it a black ship by any chance?"
As Jack said this, Michael interupted. "Sir, I don't want to interrupt you, but... I saw the ship you are talking about now... It had black and ripped sails." He explained to Jack.
"Michael, my lad... Were you the one that rumered about it?" As if Will read Jack's thoughts, he asked.
Michael shook his head. "No, sir..." He said in a quiet voice.
"Well, do ye know who told ev'ryone 'bout it?" Jack asked, desperately.
"It was my friend, Edward... We were walking along the beach and he saw it go in the west direction....." Michael was cut off when Penelope walked into the Blacksmith.
"Good morning Penelope." Will said through his sword process.
Michael blushed when he saw her come in. "Hello... Miss Swann..." His face went redder when he recieved a smile.
Jack turned greeted her. "'Ello luv." Jack beamed at her, and she returned it back. "Ye look stunnin'!" He remarked truthfully.
"Thank you, Jack." She replied.
Will looked up at her. "How is Elizabeth doing? I think she couldn't go to sleep last night..."
Penelope put the basket of bread down on a small table nearby. "She's fine Will. Don't worry!" She told him. "Oh, by the way I've brought Jack- I meant all of you something to eat..." She revealed the breads in the basket.
"That's very generous of you, but I'm sorry... I'm not in the place for food." Will smiled, showing his dirtied hands and the work he has to finish.
Penelope looked at them. "Oh, that's okay then. There's always you two..." She grabbed a few bread and gave it to Michael. "Here you go, Michael-"
Michael blushed and in a quiet voice he managed to say, "Thank you..."
"-And here you are, Captain!" She joked as she handed Jack's share of bread.
Jack took it along with Penelope's hand, and gave her a you-were-nearly- about-to-fall-but-i-grabbed-you hug. Penelope squealed in laughter. "Thank ye luv." Jack said.
Will just rolled his eyes and Michael cleared his throat. "I think it's time for my break, master." He reminded Will and ran out of the door as soon as possible, his face burning hot red.
"Now that the lad has gone... Oh yes. He said somethin' 'bout me ship goin' to the west direction... hmm" Jack looked as if he was in deep thought, and Penelope didn't dare to disturb him. "Ah, ha! Me Pearl is goin' te Tortuga! I should've known it all along. C'mon! There's no time ter waste! We've gotta catch up te me ship!" Jack exclaimed.
Will nearly choked on his on syliva. "What? No, no... Jack, there is no way that you're going on a dangerous mission like that... again! Haven't you learned from before?" Will claimed.
Jack was about to say a sentence, when a googly-eyed Penelope looked at him. "Jack... You aren't going to go, are you?" She sobbed. She had only just met him as the one and only man for her, and now... he leaves? "Please don't leave!"
Jack hesitated a little bit. "Penelope..." He paused for a long time, wondering if he should say this or not. "Would ye... Do yer wanna come with me, ye know and help me find me ship?" He asked Penelope, glancing at Will now and then.
"Jack! That is the most..." Will was about to object, but shut up as Penelope smiled and wiped her tears.
"Really?" She asked in a shaking voice.
"' Course! And when I find me ship, ye can decide whether ter stay with me, or with Elizabeth... And Will." Jack explained.
To Jack, and Will's surprise, Penelope grinned. "That would be so splendid!" She cried and hugged Jack.
Right after that moment Will coughed (as in a clearing-his-throat way...) "Jack, could I talk to you for a moment?" Will asked politely, as usual. He went outside with Jack following him.
"Now, what did ye want ter talk about?" Jack questioned, as if he didn't know what they were going to talk about.
"Jack! You know perfectly well why I want to talk to you!" Will shouted. "Are you mad? Taking Penelope away? What would Elizabeth have to say about this? If the Governer found out... errrrrr... You, Jack Sparrow, is driving me mad!" He stressed.
"Now, now... William, take a big breath, and let it all out." Jack said calmly. "Now, there's no need ter throw a hissy-fit like that... I'll bring 'er in one piece."
Will blinked. "It's that I'm worried about. If she gets in any danger... Well she will definetly be in danger, since she's following a pirate, but why do you have to take her away? How do I... or for that matter, you know that she's going to come back home all safe and sound?" He quizzed.
Jack looked down at the ground for a little while. Then he stared back at Will. "'coz, I think I've fallen in love with 'er..." He said, in a dead serious tone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
