Spock's Answer
One soul hears the cry of another in need,
As the bond of love calls across space.
His t'h'yla must be denied if he is to succeed,
Is there heartbreak beneath that stern Vulcan face?
He kneels in the sand, stares into the sky,
And senses a presence out there.
Pure logical thought, and he cannot deny
That his answer must lie elsewhere.
To meld with V'ger is now his goal,
Yet what does he find when he's there?
A living machine without any soul,
Logical, barren, and unable to care.
Is this all I am, so cold and alone?
I need you too, Jim. I should have known.
