UNDER YOUR SPELL
--Dancing With Lightning
A/N: Okay, everyone has the licence to laugh at me now. I cried six times (SIX TIMES) while writing this chapter. Eesh! No more, I tell you!! And I thought the Prologue was bad... ahh, it probably doesn't help that I'm listening to some really depressing music. 'My Immortal' by Evanescence, the very upsetting 'Ending Theme' from Final Fantasy X and 'Sacrifice' from Buffy, The Vampire Slayer. I'm in a weird music mood today. I spent the whole day listening to Justin Timberlake...
Please, tell me what you think of this chapter. Either review or e-mail me at ethna_duana@hotmail.com . Aha! I also have a homepage now, well actually, it's kinda my older sister's, but she's making my own little section there soon, so, if you like, I'll have other stories on there, original ones and ones involving real people that you can't put on fanfiction.net. My new fic (which hopefully I'll be started soon) will be on there too, and it's called Big Sister. It's basically a rip off of Big Brother, and those who don't know what that is can go to this site in about a month and check it out. There'll be a voting system and everything. Go here: www.otherworld.2ya.com
And yes, I named this chapter after my sister's site, which in fact named after a song. So people, please enjoy Otherworld!!!

Otherworld
Alisa, Hunter, Saebryn and Sky all got off the plane in a hurry, grabbing their luggage and hailing a taxi as soon as they reached the road. Keegan Falls was only half an hour from where they were at that moment.
Whereas Morgan was walking around the little country town already, hiding her wings under a big coat she'd gotten from a little shop. It was a big coat, one made for a man four times her size, but it was perfect. The owner of the shop had given her a few strange looks as she came in, which she stopped by explaining the fact that she was trying an experiment to see if, by jumping off the local cliff, whether she could fly. That was a bad idea. He looked even stranger than before, making her feel incredibly uncomfortable. But instead she smiled, thanked the man for the coat, donned it, and headed outside, ignoring the stares of the customers. She looked at the name of streets as she walked by, and realised she was getting close. Dangerously close, to be exact. She could feel the air thicken dangerously and she could actually smell the makings of another invention like the Dark Wave. Unfortunately, they were having no success. She looked at the street sign in front of her:
'Amy's Ranch'.
Ha, ha ha ha. It was really not funny. Amy's Ranch = Amyranth. It was actually really lame. With a shrug, she walked up the street and stopped in front of the biggest house she had ever seen in her life. It had to be at least five stories... oh well. She walked though the rusted old gates, chuckling. If this was a movie, lightning would have struck behind this forbidding house and a witch with a warty nose and green skin would have flown overhead on a broomstick. It was quite comical. She stepped up onto the porch and looked at the door with the (can you believe it??) skull knocker, pushing the door slightly. It creaked open, and she walked inside, expecting it to slam shut behind her. It would have been hilarious if it had, but it didn't. It just hung open and let in the sounds of owls and other nocturnal animals. Not a good idea for noises like that when you were trying to storm someone's home. So she carefully closed the door behind her and walked up the cobweb-covered stairs, listening to the voices heard on the second story.
"So Ciaran's dead, is he?"
"Yes, sir." Hey! It was that man from outside Hunter's house's voice.
"And you couldn't kill Morgan?"
"I tried, sir."
"You did use the gun, didn't you? You shot her, didn't you?"
Morgan quietly pressed her ear against the closed door.
"Yes, sir." His voice got quieter with every answer. "I hit her every time."
A lady's voice cut in. "How could she be shot with hundreds of bullets and still live?"
Morgan shed her cloak and opened the door, walking into the room. "That's for me to know, and for you to find out."
They all stopped talking, and looked over at Morgan, her black wings making a heavy contrast against the red-painted wall. She smiled.
"How are we all?"
The man with the red trenchcoat tapped a man next to him on the shoulder. The younger man with bleached-blonde hair and white eyes smiled, looking over at her.
"Anacktegaio...."
"What?" Morgan frowned.
He smiled, this time speaking in English. "You should know me, Angel. You talked to me for years, counselled me for years. And now... Angel, I'm the nightmare I used to be."
He flung out a hand and a ball of white magick flew at her, hitting her in the shoulder. It briefly went numb, before her whole left arm began to throb.
"Strange, how a healing spell hurts you. Dearest Angel Morgan, we seemed to have swapped places. I'm now your darling Angel, and you're my sweet Devil."
He threw another ball at her, and Morgan tumbled down the stairs, screaming. She landed at the bottom, her chest heaving as it tried to take in air. She struggled to her feet and screamed a word as Jonathan started down the stairs. A ball of black light gathered in front of her hand, then the darkness died.
"What???"
She tried again, but this time she felt the magick inside her body shrivel up and die.
"Oh... Goddess... this can't be happening."
She tried again and again, but Jonathan had reached the bottom of the stairs. She screamed as he started to gather a ball of light in his hands, his white eyes wide and afraid.
The front door burst open and Alisa screamed as the electric white ball was heaved at Morgan.
Hunter yelled,
Alisa screamed,
Then Saebryn ran forward and stood over Morgan. "LEAVE HER ALONE!!!"
Jonathan turned his white eyes on her, smiling insanely. "How long has it been Saebryn?"
Morgan was lying on the ground, her skin dead white.
Alisa ran to her, kneeling down and stroking her hair as Hunter watched the exchange between his wife and this unknown man.
"SHUT UP!!!" Saebryn screamed. "Just leave her be, Jonathan!!!"
Morgan's eyes fluttered open and she looked at Alisa, her brown eyes dull. "No more, Alisa. Can't protect. Magick. Just like the sun every day. It's gone, Alisa..."
Alisa looked at Hunter. "Her magick's gone!! Get her out of here, now!!!"
Hunter ran forward and picked Morgan's limp body up, running with Alisa out of the house and to his car, laying Morgan down in the back, with Alisa holding her head on her lap.
Saebryn grabbed Jonathan's neck and squeezed, choking the younger man. He fell to his knees, gasping, and she let go, running out to the car, her heavy boots pounding on the cracked pavement.
Morgan was dimly awake when Saebryn got in the car, and laughed weakly when thunder crashed behind the house, hearing furious screams coming from the inside. She looked up at Alisa.
"Just like the movies," she rasped.
Alisa chuckled and stroked her hair. "Just like the movies," she repeated.
Morgan slept the whole way to the hotel, and Hunter had to carefully cover her with the big coat while he carried her inside and up to the rooms they'd booked in the taxi, knowing that they'd be staying for a little while.
ï¾
Morgan woke up to hear voices. She didn't open her eyes, though, just in case they were in the room.
"So what's your connection with this man, Saebryn?" Hunter's voice.
"Yeah, how do you know the guy who almost killed Morgan?" Alisa.
"Umm... well, you know how before I accepted the fact that I was a witch, I worked for the police force? Yes, well, Jonathan killed his baby sister and was taken in for questioning. I got to know him quite well, but one day, he just... disappeared. He never had white eyes though..."
Morgan opened her eyes and carefully sat up. "His eyes were blue."
Hunter, Saebryn and Alisa jumped. They were all sitting cross-legged on the ground near the fireplace.
"How did you know that?" Saebryn asked.
Morgan smiled. "I know these things. What I don't understand is how he can possibly be here."
"What do you mean?" Alisa turned her back on the flames.
Morgan smiled. "He was my... what could you call it? Student, when we were dead. He was caught in the places between heaven and hell, and I was supposed to help him cleanse his soul." Tears welled up in her eyes suddenly. "Hunter... the place I was in... it was heaven. And we were in a special place where Wiccans were placed, so we didn't ruin the deaths of the normal angels.
"And... my magick has disappeared.
"Hunter, I can't go back there, don't you realise that? I was in Heaven, real Heaven, and now that my magick's gone... I can't go back. I can't do magick, I'm not a witch anymore!! So why should I, the stupid HUMAN that I am now, be allowed to spend eternity in Wiccan Heaven... Wiccan Heaven, with my mother?!!
"Hunter, I loved her and I loved it, it was so peaceful and nice and... and I'd never dreamed of anything better but...
"You took that away, damn you!! You and everyone else, you stole that away by bringing me back!! And now I'm condemned to eternal Hell... I can't use magick, I can't go to Heaven...
"All because of YOU!"
Tears spilled down Morgan's cheeks, matching the ones that fell from Hunter's eyes.
"Morgan... please..."
"You brought me back! I know it, Hunter!!! Why did you do it?!?!"
"Morgan..."
"Why?!?!"
"Morgan, please listen..."
"WHY DID YOU DO IT???"
"Morgan!!!"
Morgan started sobbing, pushing her shaking hands through her hair. "I thought you'd believe in me, Hunter. You don't love me at all."
He ran to the bed and knelt, taking her hands in his. "I do love you, Morgan!! I love you so much!"
Saebryn started crying.
Morgan jerked her hands out of his. "No, you don't. If you loved me, you would have let me stay dead!! You would have been fine!!"
"Morgan, please listen to me!!!"
Morgan closed her mouth and looked at him.
"I brought you back because I thought you were in hell. I was constantly getting visions of you when I scried, and they weren't good ones. I thought I was doing you a favour."
"Well you weren't. You've killed the real me, Hunter."
Tears dripped down his cheeks. "Morgan... if you would just understand how I felt..."
"I did understand, Hunter!! I did!! I was forced to watch you every bloody day for five years; I was forced to watch all of my loved ones grow up, and all because of some girl who made a mistake years ago! But you didn't just bring me back, Hunter, you brought others too!! You've ruined their beings too, and not just because they're alive!! Because they can't feel anything, just like me.
"Everyone is telling me that I've only been alive for four weeks, but you know what? I'm not alive. My lungs are working, my heart is beating, but my soul isn't there. And that's why I'm what I am. If everyone had no soul, the whole world would be filled with demons and monsters."
"You're not a monster..." Alisa whispered.
"I am, Alisa! I'm a monster. And there's nothing any of you can do about it. All that I ask is that you go back to your normal lives and leave me alone. I need to do what I need to do. And if it means killing me, well, an eternity without my mother is better than living here.
"You know, I've realised something. There's no such thing as hell. Because Earth has turned into it."
